This is a truly wonderful series and I seriously recommend picking them up.

Each of the books are pretty short, so going for these collections of three stories you’re getting much better value for your money and much more fun with each book.

If you’re a vampire fan, if you want something other than vampire romance, jump on this now!

Ugh I’m so mad and disappointed……no not with the book but because of the “mistakes” the characters did in this book. But it was an awesome read as usual.

***********HUGE SPOILERS AHEAD*********

Book 7

This book was not packed with loads of action like the last book, but this book is vital for understanding the prophecy! I mean, even though this book is not action packed …it was still a page turner, considering that you learn a LOT of things about Mr.Tiny, the prophecy, the ro

I feel that Darren and the others trusted Steve far to easily when he makes his reappearance - I mean really! And abit too predictable that it turned out that Steve was (SPOILER!!) the Lord of the Vampaneze!

Interesting take of what would happen if humanity ever discovered the existence of vampires/vampeneze - riots, crazy angry mobs - yknow the usual :)

My 4 stars are more 3.5 actually, sorry Darren,
but while i really enjoyed all 3 books and totally getting the next 3 soon, I was also disappointed at times.
Also while the story feels slow n some parts it is rushed in others.
Ending was sort of predictable from the start, but that didn't bother me, I rather anticipated it.

The main mystery for me really is Harkat, I'm dying to know who he was etc. He got less attention in the last two books of this trilogy and I think it could have added to the wh

Recommends it for: Horror Readers
Personally I think this book deserves to be in a 100 best books list because I really struggled whist reading this to put it down, it was almost like the book was glued to my hands!

This trilogy is one, not to be missed and I think the other two trilogies leading to this one give this trilogy a much needed boost in the story line and plot. I enjoyed reading this and would suggest that you read this ASAP!

I can't really write much as most of the books content is spoilers to the other trilogies. So

I first read the Saga of Darren Shan when I started year 7, I found the books in the corner of the school library just begging to be read. My friend recommended them so I didn't think twice about it, I picked the books up and read the entire series within a week. Darren is such a good character to be the narrator of the story. Of course this is a vampire book, and it follows vampires (half and full vampires) and another species of vampire called the vampaneze (half and full). The vampires are th ...more
Torture is cool, there are people who are pure evil, and what the hell is the age group that these books are geared towards? I have always been baffled by the surprising level of senseless violence in them, but confronting reluctant readers who love action-packed books which are violent and have high stakes (and this is kind of who I'm guessing they're for?) that also condone torture and have the mentor figure saying that there are people who have been born evil just makes it worse. Entertaining ...more

I did really enjoy this section of the series. Here we see Darren locked in all out war with the Lord of the Vampaneze, who is destined to destroy the Vampire Clans. Darren meets up with some of his former friends who helps him on is quest, and we finally find out who the Lord of the Vampaneze is! I won't say as it's a massive spoiler, but wow it was a great twist! Also, another significant event happened, and I didn't realise just how attached I was to the characters in this book until it left ...more

When I was younger, I devoured these novels as quickly as I could get my hands on them! Looking back at the books with a more critical eye, they don't hold up as well. I loved Darren Shan's flair for the dramatic, he really can tell a story, but his writing style is not very sophisticated. Of course, these are meant for a younger audience. I rate Mr. Shan's writing mostly on what my inner Middle-Schooler thought, but I refrain from five stars as a nod to current me. Overall, I would encourage 5t ...more
For the most part, these three books tell the events during just a few days and as such are quite action-heavy and fast-paced. There are some nice twists and turns and though it clearly is meant more for tweens than young adults, there are some quite gruesome scenes in it.

Darren is becoming more likeable over all and even though he does still have some annoying tendencies, it is clear that he is more of an adult now.

I liked the addition of the new characters (as well as some returning ones).

Since it's so long ago that I read these books I can't really say much about them, but I will try.
I began reading these in class when I was about ten, though this isn't when I got into them.
Darren's weird was of writing without scaring anyone but adding a sort of creeping feeling was amazing.
I think that anyone could read these books, as I started when I was ten and didn't carry on reading, and started again when I was fourteen and loved it.
These books are still among my favourites list and

Nice series, as i have been saying. The events that happen in this book keep you on the edge of your seat wondering how it is all going to end. I cant say anything b/c if your reading this review youve obviously read the other books in this series...

This was a good read but I picked this series up in the middle. It was a good trilogy but I need to start at the beginning to really work out what its about.
