Through Whoopi's hilarious words and Olo's untrammeled pictures, young readers will learn just how to behave in company and have a blast along the way.

This book, by Woopi Goldberg, goes over some of the appropriate manners we should all have in life. It covers advice for parents, public decency, phone manners, and even table manners.
I think that this is good for grades 3-5 because it gives the children another way to hear appropriate social norms and for it not to feel like a lecture. I think this could be administered at the beginning of the year and read again when the teacher feels like it's necessary to remind students of proper manners.
This book introduces children to manners in a very simple and silly way. This is excellent for young children learning about manners. It includes very basic concepts that are easy to understand.
3.5 - I'm somewhat stuck on how to rate this. Repetitive books are among my least favorite and this is definitely in that category. On the other hand, just as anyone would assume, this is very funny. That eased the more tedious parts for me a bit but not all the way. The ending was probably the best - and funniest - part for both Julia and I. The fact that lots of different kids are shown is also a great thing. I can't say I'd recommend it to anyone but if someone specifically asked for a book, by a celeb, about manners, I'd probably think of this. As it is I'm happy I took it out from the library because we'll never read it again.
I love the combination of real photography and drawings. The book includes interesting cultural facts. Ultimately this is a good book for younger kids and the pictures are enough to keep them amused. On a side-note I really enjoyed the additional tip for parents on the Being a Poor Sport page. This is one rule they should already know, but as summer ball teaches us every year, they do tend to forget.
I like this book of manners because its humorous. Whoopi Goldberg did a good job getting the point across in an interesting way. I would definitely recommend reading this aloud to young children rather allowing them to read it themselves because it's a little long. Each page has about 1-3 full paragraphs on it, so that could be overwhelming for a beginner reader. The book also contains a few large words as well. Children would be able to relate to this book well.
Notes: Whoopi's Big Book of Manners, by Whoopi Goldberg is a fantastic book that talks about manners.
Book Review: Thoughout the book Whoopi takes the reader through a list of manners that students should know. It is a fun book that is very interesting. Helps the teacher make it fun when talking about manners.
Recommend: I would recommend this book to students in grades K-2.
My CT teacher read this book to the class when she thought that they would start to get antsy with school and start miss behaving after a while away from school or in school. It is a funny book that the children seemed to really enjoy while learning about manners. I would suggest this book for children in 2nd grade.
This is one of my all time favorite children's picture books. Whoopi Goldberg has written a funny book that regards manners of all kinds. I have read this several different times and children always love it. The pictures are made up of cartoons and real objects. It's a wonderful book, I highly recommend reading this book aloud.
CHEERS - CHEERS - CHEERS WHOOPIE GOLDBERG - You are so much more than just a pretty face!
What a great book - young and old alike should read it! It's helping my four-year old stop picking her nose!!!! And my husband actually gave me a phone message after listening to me read the story - Love you Whoopie!!!!!
Thank you Whoopi! Finally, a great book about manners, I enjoyed this book a lot!!! I read it to my class and saw an immediate response. Students said please and thank you, and it also helped those that can't seem to keep their fingers out of their nose..
I love Whoopi Goldberg: as an actor, comedienne, talk show host and now I am adding author to the list. This hilarious, charmingly honest children's book grabbed me from the opening line: "Nobody wants to see your finger in your nose." Write on, Whoopi!
This is a great book to talk about manners with your classroom. The animations are great along with the manners that are discussed in a joking but serious way. I would use this book to discuss the correct manners to use with your students!!
My five-year-old son picked this book out from the library.
This was a very funny book, filled with good (and timely) advice. My enjoyment of this book was marred, however, by the fact that the copy we read smelled like bad cheese.
I absolutely love this book and so do my students. I usually read it on day 1 or 2 of school. It goes through manners that most of us are not comfortable brining up in class!
Very cute and silly. This is a must read for kids, and honestly I think adults should read this too so they can brush up on their proper manners they've forgotten about over the years!
