This is a bit more than a simple "how to draw" book. I like the way that they venture off the beaten track into cave art and drawing after Picasso and even into using electronic drawing tools (though, given it was published in 2006, a lot has happened in the electronic drawing world since then). The authors have drawing classes for students and this shows through. Clearly it is a foundation course and, I think, rather well done. Debating whether to keep it ....but think I will for the moment even though I'm trying to reduce my library to something more manageable. Four stars from me.

Good at points but there is too much rudimentary fluff (i.e history) in the beginning. When you get to the second part of techniques things improve.

This is a book that I was refer to when I'm stuck with how a medium should work and what processes I could implement to create new art masterpieces.

The images and examples used to illustrate the text works as you get to see how a tool or a process can be conveyed. This book is a good book for anyone who wants to get their inner creativity be seen as well as advancing from basic stick figure drawing.

The last chapters on drawing were really interesting to me.
