This book contains a fabulous selection of colorful old music covers from 1890 to 1925 - some 128 rare covers and 36 pages of actual sheet music from a time in "America's wonderful once-upon-a-time."
The days of Scott Joplin; Al Jolson; 'Casey Jones'; 'The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo'; Vernon and Irene Castle; George M. Cohan; 'The Sheik of Araby'; Irving Berlin's 'Snooky Ookums' & 'Alexander's Ragtime Band'; 'Shine On, Harvest Moon'; Ziegfeld Follies; 'In the Shade of the Old Apple Tree'; 'Be My Little Baby Bumble Bee'; 'You Made Me Love You' (I Didn't Want to do it); 'Maple Leaf Rag'; 'Oh, You Beautiful Doll'; 'Bill Bailey, Won't You Please .... Come Home?'.
The art work in these old covers is exquisite and the selection, a superb representation of the times. even if you may wince at a few of the WWI jingoistic songs and of seeing Al Jolson in blackface.
88 pages (including a history of the covers) plus 36 pages of sheet music.
