This is a very short book, with some great pictures. It is an overview, or introduction to mysticism in Medieval Europe. The two things I liked about it are that it provides a good starting point for further reading, there are a lot of other books mentioned, mostly primary sources; and the pictures, particularly those drawn by Hildegard of Bingen.
It was a well put together book, aesthetically, but I felt like it wasn't as informative as I would have liked it to be. And not just because it was short. The length wasn't the problem. It just seemed like... I don't know. I guess it just wasn't very interesting to read.
