3.75 - Clearly an important work as Socrates was a big influence on philosophy and many other areas of argument and discussion today. Xenophon was apparently aiming to prove Socrates character to be a good one in writing this and I think he succeeded in that regard. Although, I already figured he was kind of an interesting fellow from the Plato writings I read. This text however puts many of Socrates teachings together such as law, leaders, motherhood, and even relations, which makes it an interesting and useful read.

Read the first two chapters for a class spring 2025. I enjoyed Xenophon's tone and how socrates comes through in pretty much the same tenor as in Plato. I would like to read the whole thing someday. I am often frustrated at my high school (and, alas, college junior self) who didn't think Xenophon was that cool. It was probably because they never told me he wrote about Plato. Though would I have even cared? I didn't even like Plato until recently. And now I'm basically a neoplatonist (I kid but not entirely). I wonder how surprised 16-year-old me would be at me now.
