Really surprised at how well I liked this marriage in peril story since I generally try to avoid them. It was very well written and believable. The hero and the heroine were both very sympathetic characters. The heroine did marry for money and security and while in Romanceland that is generally a no no, in the real world it is a fact of life (especially the security bit) and it was interesting to watch such a different story line play out. It has only been in the last 50 years or so that society ...more
The characters in this book irritated me, made me angry but at the end of the book I was invested in them because they had done so many things wrong that I didn't know how the author would ever fix them. MJ is a surgeon who loves his work and his life, he has two kids even though because of his work he doesn't get to see him much, a perfect wife who looks good, maintains herself, runs the house, charities, everything is perfect and then he comes home to a letter that his wife of seven years has ...more
Very good book. This one was unusual, as the main characters have been married for seven years already. Although she hadn't been in love with MJ when they married, she has grown to love him very much. She has been the perfect wife, supporting him, raising his children, doing everything she thought he wanted. But she spends most of her time alone since he works very long hours, and she has gotten tired of it. So she packs up the kids and leaves New York for Vermont. MJ is stunned, as he didn't re ...more

I think I am in the minority on this one, but for me this book was middle of the road.

I really enjoyed the beginning....and was thinking this was going to be one powerful story that kept me turning those pages. However, somewhere in the middle, it just got dragged down with too many self-recriminations by the heroine. I also found the hero's volatile reaction to her confession was disproportionate to the crime. I lost interest in both characters and became frustrated with his families opinionat

It was an okay read. I enjoyed this one because of the marriage-on-the-rocks trope which is one of my favorite tropes. It was perfect read for my day off.

I absolutely loved this book. The story was so well-written and moving. I can see why this book is a RITA finalist. As a wife of many years, I could relate to the heroine's internal conflict and at the same time feel so strongly for the hero's point of view. I cried when they finally found their way back to each other. In fact, I am a bit teary as I recall the depth of that moment in the book.

I totally loved this book ! It was really a fabulous read that had me glued to my seat and I read this one in one sitting ! The story of MJ and Alicia and their two beautiful children had me inspired and entranced. MJ recons he has it all a beautiful wife, two gorgeous kids,a great job and that life could not be better.

That is until his world comes crashing down with such a force that it knocks the wind in his sails. He and Alica had a love that is pure and passionate w

so worth reading for me,impressions bout this book stayed longer than just till next novel and I loved gold digger heroine that falls hard for her hubbie! it'a a trophy wife and a workaholic doctor storyline with a nice addition of inlows that are adorable, dream ones and children as well! it's somehow complete read nothing is lacking, maybe not putting things off for 7 years but I can picture it and believe in their HEA.
4.5 stars
I really enjoy marriage in peril stories and this one stood out. It felt real. I felt for both the hero and heroine and truly believe in their HEA. This is the first book I have read by this author and will be looking forward to reading more.
4.5 stars. Books like this are why I still read Harlequin romance. Lillian Darcy is one of those writers who can engage your emotions, even in a shorter book. I actually cried while reading this.

If there is anything I like better than a reunion romance it is a marriage in trouble when it's well done.
This is the third in the McKinley Medics series. MJ and Alicia have been married for seven years but their rushed Vegas wedding left both of them uncertain about the other's real feelings.

Now it's crunch time and the alienation brought on by MJ's heavy surgical work load and Alicia's desperate need to be the perfect wife has led to her decision to leave the marriage.

This is where the story p

This story about MJ and Alicia, they already married for seven years and have two beautiful kids. The story began with Alicia ask divorce from MJ because MJ never been there. The story flashback to seven years earlier, they married for all wrong reason, Alicia only want financial security and MJ only want the wife and kids based on his agenda.
MJ is good doctor but a lot of his time is spend in Hospital, when he try to fix his marriage he try to delegate some work. Alicia is mature than when she

Author is very good with reflecting likely feelings unlike in cliche romance books. I especially enjoyed realistic representation of the heroine`s feelings at the beginning of their relationship.
I`d like to feel the love H\h felt for each other a little bit more.

Really liked how it was a marriage that was trying to find love again, rather than a traditional love story setting :)
This was actually my second read through of this. I'm not surprised it's a Rita finalist. Excellent story.
