I'm not much for the idea of cleanses, at least how they tend to personify themselves in western culture. However well-intentioned they are, more often than not they seem to be misguided embodiments of the idea that there is some "miracle" cure out there for what ails you, be it some zany diet consisting only of hog fat and radishes, or subsisting solely on lemon water and cayenne for two weeks in the name of bodily "strength". Compounding this notion is the fact that much of the cleansing liter ...more

Since my children were born a few years ago I have struggled with some really annoying issues. I developed Rosacea which for those of you who don't know means my face is constantly red and irritated and I break out in sore itchy bumps that are not acne. I have also had about 20-25 lbs that refuses to go away for any length of time.

Iniatially for the rosacea I saw a doctor who recommended putting me on antibiotics. Not something I want to do for any length of time. And its doesnt cure the proble

It works!

This book is well written enough that I overlooked the poor editing and formatting.

This book is all about how to do a liver and gallbladder cleanse, which every conscientious cancer patient is recommended to do (as well as anyone with chronic disease). I wish very much I had known about this vital information 20 years ago when I was pushed by a surgeon to have my gallbladder removed. I could have saved myself the trauma and expense, because this cleanse works! Boy, does it.

The first cl

I like the notion that it's healthy to want to be healthy, and the liver cleanse is one way to actively pursue good health. I'm going on my third cleanse this week, and although I haven't had great results with the first two cleanses, I'm definitely trying again. The colonic irrigation afterward was helpful, and I can do better at sticking to the recommended diet leading up to the cleanse. The skin on my hands is healthier now, not drying and cracking nearly as much. Also, I've lost weight after ...more

This is a must-read for everyone!! The liver is responsible for cleansing our bodies from all toxins. Western diets generally promote build-up in our livers which show up on the outside of our bodies as aches, pains, and diseases. When we remove the toxic build-up from the liver, we restore the body's natural ability to remove toxins and fight infections and disease. It's such a simple concept, and a simple solution. I haven't done the cleanse yet, but in just applying a few simple techniques I' ...more

Very informative book — a liver and gallbladder cleanse would probably benefit most people. You may want to skim over the first section that talks about the various health issues that can be attributed to liver stones and gallstones. If you have a particular issue, read that section, otherwise it can be safe to say that most illnesses have some connection to these stones. The book has easy to follow instructions on doing a cleanse. Plus there is a section on preventing getting stones. Proper hyd ...more

I like the Author's viewpoint.

Cleaning what is dirty or clogged only makes sense. We don't even think twice about questioning whether we should wash our hands if they get sewage on them. If we have any kind of filth on the outside of our bodies, most of us do whatever we can to get it off as soon as possible. We don't often think of what filth is lurking in the folds of our inner tissues because we can't see it and we don't know how to read the signs of it as they show themselves on our body's

lots of interesting concepts here. not sure that i believe them all, but if it can address my major health concerns (not that they are acute at this point, mostly about prevention for a healthy future life), then following this will be worthwhile. having already done a cleanse and not felt that it was a large imposition on my lifestyle, i'm willing to give it a few more go's and see what happens.

This book will change your life, if you are willing to proactively treat your engine. The organs have a lifespan, and the liver has over 500 functions; so, the importance of cleaning the liver is vital to optimal health. This is an excellent book. I would recommend it to anyone that has a history of cleansing, and a desire for overhauling the engine.

I’ve given this book three stars because the cleanse described in the book is apparently so valuable. It cleanses out gallstones in the liver, which Moritz states are a cause of all chronic diseases.

It is a simple cleanse with apple juice and Epsom salts. The only thing is he refers to the need for having colonic irrigation also prior to the cleanse. You can probably find a therapist on the net who will do this irrigation for you, but I’m wary of this because I have previously had Crohn’s and th

Okay- to be honest, I was looking (hoping) for an alternative to the classic oil liver cleanse in this book. No such luck, but Moritz really does a fantastic job explaining the role of the liver/gallbladder/bile in health (and illness) as well as how exactly this detox helps. Looks like I'll have to bite the bullet and finally give this detox a try. Perhaps I'll update with my results. Great read, highly recommended!

The lack of footnotes, endnotes, bibliography had me fact-checking things on google while reading. Moritz was either wrong or exaggerated things to argue his thesis. He claimed that all diseases, illnesses, etc stem from toxins in the liver/gallbladder. That's way too much of a bold claim without any evidence to back it up. Also, anyone who tells me to stop eating when I'm still slightly hungry isn't someone I'm going to listen to. If I want to eat nine bananas until I'm full, then I'm going to ...more

I think cleanses are great for the body, but this one just seemed to me to be a bit too far "out there" for me. All I can say is, "Eww." I know there are certain diets that eliminate many "toxic" foods and that was more what I was looking for. This is slightly more New Age-y and a little too intense as well as gross... Thanks for the info, but no thanks.

Although I did like reading this book - it had many interesting points to raise about society's current science and medical industry - I don't think I would do this flush unless I was desperate, seeing how easily complications can occur if you don't follow the flush to its precise, complicated design.

The gallbladder flush is a folk remedy said to promote the passage
of gallstones. The ‘flush’ typically involves fasting for 12 hours
and then drinking a large amount of olive oil and lemon juice.
Usually, a laxative and/or enema is also used. This produces
diarrhoea, abdominal pain and the passage of multiple green,
brown, yellow or black spheres which resemble gallstones.
However, analysis shows that these hardened blobs are not stones,
but bile-stained ‘soaps’ produced by an interaction between the

Two stars solely for the fact that apple juice followed by an oil-citrus blend is a common tactic for cleansing (I’ve had stones myself and am an advocate for cleanses).

Other than that the segments about it healing “all chronic disease” and being the start of a disease free life is false and not backed up by research. Some of the ‘symptoms’ the author lists are ridiculous. It felt very exploitative and people should read it with skepticism. Some of the diseases that the author claims to cure ar

Nope. Not at all convinced nor will I be trying the cleanse which comes after reading so much doom and gloom you'd want to throw yourself under a bus if, like me, you have gallstones! Makes an awful lot of claims but zero references to studies or published research. I did agree with some of it, like drink water and eat fruits and veggies and not too much protein. He completely lost my interest with the suggestion to do his cleanse on certain days of the year! I'd probably file it under pseudo sc ...more

I read this for the information on why gallstones occur, but not with the intent to actually do a flush. I've read too many opposing views on how the supposedly flushed gallstones aren't really gallstones at all but were formed from the combination of olive oil and lemon juice that you drink. Plus, from looking at my own images, my gallstones look a bit on the large side and doing a flush makes me nervous. Anyway, my opinion on the veracity of Moritz's findings are still out until I do more rese ...more

Simple and to the point. Let me with a few circumstantial questions, but overall felt confident in the information and believe it to be something I'd like to use as a tool. I'm concerned about whether a cleanse or multiple cleanses would be safe during breastfeeding though. And given the expected number of cleanses and timeline protocols, in a bit overwhelmed. In not certain I can incorporate this at this time in my life. However, I do want to at some point.

I’m still in the fence about this book. I ended up doing a much gentler 9-day liver cleanse by the medical medium guy. I also have a liver cleanse protocol by John Douillard, a chiropractor who practices in Boulder, CO. I have CT scan-confirmed gall stones, so it’s something I’m still wondering about how to take care of and/or not make worse. The cleanse in this book is intense. I just was t sure it was a good idea 😬
