This is an awful textbook. Authors/editors did an abysmal job with clarity and being concise. Feels more like they attempted to create literature with a narrative than simply focusing on effectively teaching the reader the content. This is not a good resource for new learners - more of a review or resource for experienced installers or low level techs in the field looking to strengthen their comprehension and get a better job.

No consistency with the presentation of Key Terms and they frequently use analogous or alternating terms without any signals that they're addressing key concepts or using synonymous language instead of the specific language in review questions. In some sections there's italicized key words, in other areas they make the key words blue instead - in some areas they do nothing at all to signal key words. Multiple place where multiple key terms or concepts are presented together, then defined, respectively, without any signal at all that key terms or definitions are being addressed. If you don't already know this stuff, you will be frequently rereading just to make sure you're not mixing definitions/concepts. Great word problem style testing for students' reading comprehension and retention - but this isn't a reading class. Also, somehow, there's actually tons of redundancy with repeated concepts across chapters or useless pictures - this book could be half the size with more adroit editing. Also seems like when repeating content there's an attempt to refrain from using the same sentences or language - THIS IS A LEARNING RESOURCE NOT A NOVEL.

I've learned far more efficiently from random Youtube videos than the professionals perpetuating this obsolete brick. I hate that I had to pay money for this when it's only serving as an outline for things I look up online and actually learn, it's just a supplementary syllabus. I have a compiled playlist of free videos that present the material far better.
