Karen Whitaker's book reveals her life from its start in the 1960's in America, it was a challenging life at times, filled with struggles including; prejudice, single parenting, step children, half brother and sisters. Amazing... I've known Karen for 20+ years and can not express how very proud I am of her for putting her CHOICES and struggles out there. Having experienced the ramifications of being in a bi-racial relationship myself and raising the children from that relationship, I completely empathize with her story. I also have experienced the looks... judgement... disgust and hate from those I thought would never turn their backs on me or my children. The judgement from your immediate family is just heart ...more

I grew up in the community in which Karen spent her later youth. So, I know the judgmental character of many of the people that helped shaped the women we have become. That's but a small reason I am so impressed by her courage, grace and loving tolerance as a woman, mother and friend.

I just finished the book. I could not put it down! Karen's journey has been an incredible one. I'm not one who believes in abortion but reading this story really had me thinking about it. Women are faced with these choices everyday because society refuses to hold men accountable for their role in creating life, most times leaving women alone, scared, and carrying all the blame.
You are a strong woman, Karen! Thank you for telling your story! God bless you!

Wow, what an incredible story. Karen truly lives her faith, follows her heart and expresses it in this heartwarming book with vulnerability and grace. Karen has walked a life, made choices like so many of us and she shares her walk, her soul in this book. I highly recommend it, for those who have made hard choices and for those who have not had to make hard choices. It will open your mind and heart to what goes on in one woman's mind as she stands in choices that will change her life.
