Axel Matfin hits us with an adrenaline-fueled mystery in The Bartender: Darkness on the Edge of Town! Ex mercenary Tom Wolfe finds himself dragged back into the fray after mysteriously receiving a handgun and a note to watch out. Tom is a great gritty kick butt character and it was a lot of fun to watch him kick down some doors in his search for the truth. What if Sam Spade had a history of violence?

I learned of this book on Goodreads and read it using Kindle Unlimited. I had a lot of fun with tough guy bartender, Tom Wolfe. It's a noir novel with the protagonist familiar with every bar from a biker club to a country club. Tom's investigation gets him into a lot of situations were his wits and his fists have to get him out of. It's the first in a series with this no nonsense character. The rest of my review will have spoilers.
