This is a book both for players of all levels, amateur to professional, as well as music enthusiasts, whatever their classical, jazz, flamenco, blues, country, rock and pop. To please fans of music past or present hundreds of guitars are described in painstakingly researched detail, each presented in full-color photographs revealing the overall shape as well as the intriguing detail.
Riddled with grammatical errors, typos, inaccurate page references, incomplete photos. HARDLY makes a dent in the history of guitars, let alone the history of great guitars. Ibanez, ESP, Kramer, etc. are left out COMPLETELY.
It starts off pretty well though, with the origin of the guitar, but feels incomplete even in that area.
A nicely compiled volume featuring both acoustic and electric guitars. Brief but concise descriptions including some historical background behind various models. A quite enjoyable volume to read or just flip through.
"The Illustrated Directory of Guitars" by Ray Bonds features 240 full-color photos, along with descriptions and information on each guitar. This book shows you guitars from the 16th century to the present day. Anyone who loves music, or has a love for guitars will want to read this book!
