The book after a point becomes too much repetitive and looks more like a collection of newspaper articles or a G.K. book rather than a biography of Ratan Tata, under which assumption I had bought the book. Lives of Ratan Tata and his predecessors are so inspiring that, it succeeds in inspiring even with the not-so-good writing. If you are going to read this book, you can stop midway, as you would have got everything offered by this book by reading that much.
-> Content is repetitive. -> Chapters related to the family and incidents, which could have been the strength of this book, are poorly written. -> Too much focus on some unnecessary facts. -> A lot could have been written about such a towering personality.
Book gives good insight about the Tata and their ideology since inception. But content is bit repetitive like take overs, family background is described several times.
Ratan Tata is a very strong personality, but the author does not do justice to him. The book includes data till 2009 which is long back. The narrative is very repetitive. The information on Tata family is very informative, but it is written in a very haphazard manner. All in all Google would provide all the information needed on Ratan tata, his family, his business and his philanthropic work.
This book was amazing we can get overview of TATA and his great family. While reading the book the vision of TATA group are gives us a great respect to TATA group and especially on RATAN TATA.
Pride of the Nation Ratan Tata is a good book which explains about the development and philanthropic efforts that TATA family has been doing in India. There are some portions which get repeated. Overall it is a Goodread.
Tatas have been a real pride of the nation indeed. With constructive philanthropy and far sighted vision of early Tatas, they have carved a niche name for their business empire. An empire that built the nation, rather than just making profits for themselves.
