Almost great, but the embers burnt out quickly

This Book had the potential to be great. It quickly went downhill about halfway through the book . There was a great start and a great promise for a new apocalyptic world, and the characters seemed to be really really well formed. However, after the first half of the book everything was just a jumbled hot mess. The characters quickly became one-dimensional and the story moved such a fast pace that it seemed forced and flat . All in all the books seem
I received Corded in return for an honest review from the author. Kayla lives in a world where women are few and far between and they are used as breeders or in clubs. Kayla's sister has already left home moving with her husband and having a little girl proving that she would be a breeder. While Kayla stays at home she's protected by her baby brother and rather hidden from the traders who hope to find girls to sell. When the life she knows is threatened she finds herself taken from the only home ...more

5, I want the next book now, Stars!!

"I want freedom. I want the right to live the way I want to live. I'm tired of hiding."

Wow! Wow! Wow! Alyssa Rose Ivy has totally knocked it out of the park with this one!!! Now, it's no secret that I am a huge fan of Alyssa Rose Ivy's paranormal romances, so when I found out that she was writing a dystopian novel, I just knew I had to read it! And boy, does she not disappoint!!

Corded is the first book in an exciting new series from Alyssa Rose Ivy. Corded is

I'm thinking Mason enjoys his woman in a swimsuit, "he picked me up and set me down on the edge of the pool. I shivered from the cold. “You look dangerous in that thing.” He put a finger underneath one of the string ties of my swimsuit." I really enjoyed this book, I loved Mason. Kayla was a spitfire, the girl was brave and strong. This book did end on a cliffhanger, but I didn't mind as the two characters I wanted togethet were together.

I'm so disappointed with this book, I enjoyed the beginning very much, it held so much promise!
Sadly there was really no middle and a poorly rushed ending. Plus who falls in love in like 2 days?!
Damn, It could've been an amazing book.

I have great hopes for this series, but that ending tho!
So there aren't very many women left, most of them are dead and gone, humanity is barely hanging on, post apocolypse and dystopia check and check.

Good things:

-I like Kayla. She a survivor but not whiny, she is intelligent but not smug. That's a bit rarer in books like these.
-Kayla's reactions were mostly on par with the internal logic of the book and the author gets major points from me that while romance developed quickly- Kayla and Mason- don't play games for an entire 200 pages to refuse to

There have been some books with a similar premise that I've read over the years, but I always love it when the story has that Alyssa Rose Ivy touch. Kayla is a fantastic character. She is family first at all costs, even all costs to herself. The romance didn't go in the direction I was expecting at all, and I absolutely loved that. It was a fairly quick romance, considering the situation, but I think I'm really going to like these two as the story progresses a

Alyssa Rose Ivy is famous for her paranormal romances and I'm already familiar with few of her works. Corded is actually Alyssa's first dystopian novel and she didn't disappoint me. This was pretty interesting read set in a dystopian world but I wish it was a bit long because I think 190 pages is too short for this story. Nonetheless, I enjoyed reading it. Although it wasn't a total perfection, I liked the unique concept, the setting and also

This felt more YA then an adult read, so i am disappointed by that! I could not warm up to Mason, he just wasn't a big badass alpha more like a wannabe....and the smut...nonexistent!

I enjoyed reading this book - it's the first I've read from this author. Corded follows the story of our heroine, Kayla, and her journey into the city (Central) to rescue her sister and niece. It's a world where women are rare commodities to be bought and sold, and there is something going on with the fertility among humans (as in nobody is producing and the human race is going to die out).

I really admired Kayla- she's a strong heroine albeit naive-sounding at times, cuz she's only 18! She coul

How to start this review...

Im in two minds about this book, on the one hand I enjoyed it and of course managed to read it in one sitting (usually a good sign)

Being a fan of the Handmaids tale, The harsh world Alyssa Rose Ivy creates in Corded is very similar in tone and content. It was in fact the reason I was drawn in the first place to reading it.

The characters themselves are compelling and you can't help but like them instantly.

However, and it kills me to write this because there is an howe

This story kept me guessing throughout. I wasn't ready for it to end yet. The first half of the book was so gritty and intense as I expect a dystopian to be. When the love story entered, it switched gear for a moment and took me in a direction I didn't expect. I liked Kayla's character. She was tough with some softness hidden underneath. It was exciting and action packed. There were some moments I wondered what in the world the characters could possibly have been thinking when they made decision ...more

I almost put this book down about mid-way through, but I looooove Alyssa Rose Ivy, so I stuck it out & finished, and I'm beyond glad I did!! The treatment of women had me on edge, as I don't like violence towards women at all & I was so afraid I was going to read about something happening to a woman that I couldn't stomach. Thankfully, that never happened & I am now thoroughly enthralled with & mesmerized by this series. Once this story gets going, it doesn't stop & it leaves you wanting more. F ...more

Wow!!!!! Im hooked!!! Kayla is in hiding—her only crime being born a girl in a society of 99 percent men!!??? How!?? Why!? Its crazy good!!! I mean yes it sucks that woman need to hide or if they get caught by certain individuals or organizations they can be rape, owned (slavery like) or use for experimental breeding. That’s right breeding. How is a girl supposed to live like that!? What chance does she have!? And let alone find the one thing we all crave for: love...And yet she is a survivor an ...more

The first part was promising but the rest seemed rushed and too short. It could have easily been 100 pages more to the 190 pages with more of the story. I've been looking forward to this book for a while. It's seemed liked a YA BOOK but with a concept of breeders and being untouched the big unravel of being untouched should have been more especially with the build up. Book 2 has the potential to develop the characters and concept I want more of Jarrett, Ethan cousin got away, Mason, c
I liked the idea behind the story - The majority of the population is male, females are commodities who are brought and sold and forced to breed, there is a fertility problem so the human population is dying out.

However in terms of the actual book, I felt that it was a bit lacking. The story seemed to move too quickly for my liking. I didn't like that it seemed as though i was breezing through the story and I would have preferred for it to have been 'padded out' more.

If you liked hand maiden's tale read this.

I love the savage feel of this dystopian world that Alyssa Rose Ivy has created. It's like more cutthroat version of a hand Maiden's tale. Mason is up there with James and Hunter as two of my favorite male characters Alyssa has written. He is very sexy. Kayla is a smart and brave heroine, I absolutely love her. A great read over all.

I really liked the beginning of this book but halfway through I changed my mind, the ending was so short and everything happened at once. It felt like the author just wanted the book to end and rushed everything on from the middle of the book.
I couldn't understand Mason at all, suddenly he says that he wants her and the next thing they're in love, the thing that bothers me the most is that the fell in love in like 3 days, who does that?

Horrible writing, amateurish, very bland. Things happen to fast, not enough explained. Why would Colton do what he did - it was laughable. In fact I didn't read much pass that point, Mason the H was just introduced, and even that scene, and The Club was ridiculous. Good plotline, but needs to be fleshed out and written better.

Ugh! Alyssa Rose Ivy has done it again! The long wait for this story to come out was worth it! I need the next book now! So excited to continue this story and learn more about this utopian world Alyssa has created. It's different from her other stories but you know it's her work.

I didn't like this, there is very little character building, and the h goes from strongly disliking the H to 4 pages later being in love with him. I felt like i was reading a paper book and that i had somehow lost a couple of pages.

DNF at chapter 21.

Interesting story.
Women as a commodity.
Jealous, possessive Hero.
Hero has been with others but there is no real detail and he is 'corded' to the heroine quite early on in the story so there will be no others for him.

Literally one of the worst books I've ever read. Premise was promising, but the execution just wasn't there. Steadily got worse - it was so, so disappointing.
