A history of Birmingham as told by the massive advertisements that have adorned its buildings over the past 100-plus years.

This is a very well crafted book, crammed full of information on Birmingham's history, architecture, businesses and neighborhoods. The book is built around the photos of ads painted on the sides of buildings—some hidden behind newer construction and others that are hidden in plain sight. But to simply scan through the pictures and captions is to miss much of the real value

The pictures in this book were great, and reading the histories of some of the signs I remember from growing up here was fascinating. Some pictures were of ads I had never noticed, but now plan to look for. Enjoyable.
