A dual story of Jesslyn, living in the 1600s, and Catherine, who inherits Kelsey hall when her grandfather dies, with the appearance of a black cat threaded between the two women.[return][return]Wasnt a great start to the book, but I soon warmed up to it. The dates for the Catherine storyline were confusing as it straddled 1990 - 1992, but she was only there for a year, so a little confused. One of the chapters is spoiled by part of it missing in the print. The matter of the attempted murder was poorly handled too, with it cropping up partway through the book then disappearing before being resolved in the final chapters

Good enough for when you're driving through Australia in a van.
