Imagine having your own talking Christmas Tree! Alice and Tommy named their new Christmas Tree, Emily. When they both heard {it} sneeze soon after bringing it home, {she} told them she had a cold from all the wet weather they'd been having, and it was true, that she was fully alive, but trees weren't supposed to let others know they could hear, see and talk. She even told them stories! If my tree could talk I suppose I wouldn't want to chop it down or watch it die just as Tommy and Alice thought ...more

Misleading title

I snagged this book to read as a fun family activity. The tree’s sneezing has very little to do with the storyline. Thank goodness my kids are older as the discussion of the tree’s impending death began about halfway through the book. The book does have a spiritual message. While the author links the tree’s purpose for living and dying to Christ’s birth for the purpose of dying for our sins, the storyline left a sour taste in my mouth. This book will not be part of our Christmas

Bittersweet

This is a really sweet and cute children's story but its a bit sad as well. I like the message of finding your purpose without it sounding preachy.

Wow. My fault for not expanding the description but wow. So glad I read it before I read it to my nephew.

The kids find out all Christmas trees can talk and gladly die to be our tree. Just wow.

An absolutely wonderful story with a bit of Christmas magic enhanced with an explanation of the true meaning of Christmas. Written for a child, any adult would have to appreciate this book. I am so pleased that I won this through goodreads.

Loved this story; totally cried while reading it to my kids. I'm a sucker for animals/plants-come-to-life type stories already. Tie this one in with the true story of Christmas, and what can I say? I plan to read it every year -- to kids, and later to grandkids. And maybe just for myself as well :) ...more

The story of this sneezing, sa tree was certainly silly
yet original. I had a difficult time staying interested.
This is geared toward mid-elementary age and would be
good reading practice.
