Overall a good story with some good lessons to come back to. At times, I felt like I was just being pitched new business ideas which was a little insipid. Will recommend to businessy friends.

Excellently written memoir about the Founder of Discovery Communications >> a successful entrepreneur. He also weaves into the story the history of broadcast television and of course cable TV.

Didn't realise how massive discovery is as a company. Great story, love the detail in all the challenges that he had to overcome while founding the company.

Must-read for Discovery fans

The book begins with how the little things John encountered in his childhood inspired him to his entrepreneurial road, but I found those bits and pieces quite scattered and shallow. However, it soon starts to get interesting when John wrote about how his passion drove him to start up Discovery.

I could not stop myself nodding to every word John wrote. People who love watching Discovery will know what I mean. I was one of the "light TV viewers and were simply not interested in anymore television - until Discovery came along"

As a fan of Discovery, this book is very interesting, and makes me love Discovery more when I know how it had came a long way to what it is now.
