This is my book....lol :). It was such a fun book to write. Here is a little history behind the idea for Tide Ever Rising.

When I was a young girl, my mother volunteered at the local museum. She loved Native American History and our family often accompanied the museum on the various archaeological digs in the area. I grew up digging in the dirt, finding artifacts, and learning about the people who once inhabited the amazing San Rafael area. My parents also spent many hours working at the museum,

What a great reading this book has been! I finished at 1:00 a.m. because I couldn’t put it down. A sweet paranormal romance, clean and beautifully written, is what you will find between the covers of this book. Mandi did a great job with this book. I enjoyed it from the beginning. Descriptions are beautiful and she never deluges the reader with an info dump. You can see yourself in the middle of the story. The characters are deep and true, the kind you love all the way. This is truly a wonderful ...more

When I began reading Tide Ever Rising I didn't really know what to expect. On the first page I was slightly bored and unsure of where the story was going. By the second page I found myself leaning closer to the pages, wanting to know what was going to happen. Around page five I knew I wasn't going to be putting this book down anytime soon.

Mandi truly has a talent for writing. She brings her characters to life on the page and leaves you unable to put the book down. I know this to be true after r

Even though it's being promoted as a paranormal suspense, I would call it an excellent example of a gothic romance. Some thrills and chills with other-worldly involvement complement a sweet romance between Kadie and Logan. I love how Mandi can put you right there with the characters in her descriptions of sights, sounds, and smells. For those of you who love Twilight, you'll recognize some of the same territory. It was fun to re-visit the geography in a totally different type of book. No vampire ...more

Mandi's dynamic characters are immediately thrust into constant danger with breathtaking twists and turns, including a kidnapping of a six year old girl. Strange dreams and premonitions seem to guide them and their new found friends out of impossible situations. The reader is in for a surprising end. This book is a compelling, must read. Mandi Slack is a terrific suspense writer! I read this book in draft form and could not put it down. I read into the night until I had finished it. She is excellent with details of setting and pacing, and the story feels like it is happening to you. I can't wait to read more books by Slack.

She takes along her sister, Maysha, who is dragging along with her only out of love and concern while she rather be shopping somewhere. When Kadence "Kadie" Reynold first found the journal and read it, she didn't abandon it and go on with her life like any sane person would. Instead, she brought it back home and even began researching the owner of the journal, Charlotte Clark. Not quite satisfied with her search, she decided to find Adelaide Clark, the twin sister who is still alive, and hand over the journal, thinking that Adelaide would want it. When she did return the journal to Adelaide, more secret of their past were uncove ...more

Tide Every Rising," an amazing story with very well developed characters captivated me right from the beginning.

The main character, Kadie, loves exploring through old ghost towns and the vacant, dilapidated buildings that line the streets. She invites her sister, Maysha on this latest adventure, which Maysha begrudgingly accepts. In their travels, they come upon a quaint, ghost town that seems to have mysteries yet unsolved, hidden within the walls of one, all-but-burned out cabin on its main st

Kadie and her more reserved sister Maysha accidentally run across a really amazing find (the journal) when they’re traipsing through some old, abandoned, falling down houses in the nearly abandoned town of Eureka, Utah. Deciding to follow the clues given in the journal, Kadie discovers not only more secrets and mysteries than she could have imagined, but she also meets the dashingly aloof Logan and his little daughter, Zahara.

I enjoyed the first part of the book while Kadie and Maysha are tracki

This was such a fun book to read. It was the perfect book to curl up with on a cold winter's night. Yes, this book does have some romance but it also has a bit of ghostly adventure that will give you little chills.

Kadence has a hobby of exploring. Of course this is going to lead to some adventure! She finds an old journal and thinks that the family would love to have it returned to them. This is the beginning of an adventure that snowballs into much more than the simple journal return it starte

If you can love a book based on it's cover, then that is what happened to me. Is it not gorgeous? But seriously, loved, loved, loved this book (based on its content). I wanted it to be a little longer, and I wanted the plot to be more complex, specifically I wished there was more than one option for the bad guy. But to be fair, it's not a mystery, and it's completely good the way it is.

One thing I particularly liked about this book was Logan's little daughter. So often when I read books that fe

I really enjoyed Mandi’s first book, The Alias, but the moment I started Tide Ever Rising, I couldn’t put it down. I was totally sucked in! If you like mystery, if you like midwest history with a touch of paranormal, you’ll have a great time reading Tide Ever Rising. I found myself Googling information, playing along with the mystery. I knew I wouldn’t find the actual characters, but I’d search the groups, places, and organizations mentioned in the book. I wanted to see if I could find any clues ...more

This was one of those reads that was easy to consume in one sitting. It has many elements in a good story that I love. Some historic value, a clean sweet romance and just enough of a paranormal element to it that it kept me turning the pages wondering when a ghostly visitor would appear again.

I really liked Kadie's character. She was sweet, curious, smart and loyal. She was constantly doing the right thing and putting the needs of others before her own.

Zaza was adorable and of course Logan and B

This was a good book with a great plot and fun storyline. The little hints of supernatural elements like a ghost were well done and something that even I could accept. I liked the characters and felt I was really getting to know them. (my favorite was Kadie's little sister Maysha) I even developed an understanding for the bad guy. The motivations of the bad guy seemed a little strange at first, but people want to keep their secrets buried deep and not ever admit to wrong doing. The only thing I ...more

Kadie is sweet, determined, and slightly clumsy, which is what leads to her discovery of the journal and the secrets that spin throughout this fun novel. I thought I'd gotten a handle on what would happen next in the book when I got hit with a twist. Then I got comfortable in that and got hit with another twist. Gotta say, I admire a book that can keep me on my toes. :)

I really enjoyed the ghostly element of the story because it didn't overpower the narrative. And I enjoy history, so learning of

It isn't often that I advocate for a book to be longer, but in this case I do. I think Tide Ever Rising by Mandi Tucker Slack should have been longer. I don't read ghost stories, but the premise behind this one seemed intriguing. History teacher Kadence "Kadie" Reynolds loves to explore ghost towns, her younger sister, Maysha, sure doesn't share her hobby. The remnants of a burned out house yield some mysterious items. An interesting, romantic, mystery read with a touch of paranormal.

I've been reading a lot of YA lately and this wasn't your typical crush, love triangle or high school/college students, this was more about real life.

It was actually like watching a movie, you get to know the characters first before you enter the plot of the story. The characters are very lovable, you relate to them easily, they are very realistic except for the paranormal. But that only makes it better, it's not far fetched, I'm

I fell in love with Mandi's writing with The Alias and Tide Ever Rising was every bit as good.
What I loved:
1 - Logan, he's undeniably attractive, but I loved the way he treasured his grandmother, was raising his daughter on his own and obviously adored her, and he is successful while still being humble.
2 - Zaza, Logan's adorable little girl.
3 - Maysha, the hilarious younger sister.

I met the author at a book signing in march (lehi costco) but lost my signed copy somewhere between checkout and my car. But the story captured my interest so i went back and got another copy. I am glad i did, I really enjoyed the story and the ghostly sightings and dream elements were well done. Clean, quick, interesting and well written. An original storyline with unique settings of southern Utah and the Seattle area.

This is a great book. A woman who likes to explore ghost towns finds an old coffee canister in a burned out house. She finds a journal, so she decides to find the family who is talked about in the journal. She finds a lot of things that she didn't expect, including being kidnapped and threatened with being killed.

I really enjoyed this book! It's a romantic mystery with some fun twists and turns. Kadence is a great character. I love how her passion for history and exploring the past ultimately shapes her future. Unlike many books of this genre, the language and content of this book are appropriate for teens on up. I definitely recommend it!
