Mel was headed to Savannah, Georgia for an overdo visit with an aunt. Partway to Vicksburg, bullets whizzed past and the prize stallion borrowed from home "spooked" and bulled lose from the buggy, sending it the buggy on a collision course toward a stationary wagon near the river's edge. The two Elliot brothers hurried toward the accident to assess the situation. John was furious at the carelessness of the young man driving plus the dent in his wagon. This book was provided free by Goodreads First Reads. All opinions expressed in this review are mine alone. I am so glad that I won the book and I want to say Thank You!!

Storyline/Plot: 5 stars..... I loved it. There were so many facets of the story it is hard to know what to say. There is plenty of romance between the different characters. Since it is set in pre Civil War we have a bit of history involved in the story. There is a mystery also. I could hardly wait to see what was happening

I would like to start off by thanking author June Caedmon for approaching us about this review and giveaway, Thanks June! I'm really excited to tell you a little bit about this author. This is the first book that I have read by June, and I hadn't heard of her before now, but I was really impressed! There were a few grammatical errors as far as separation of paragraphs and transitional sentences, but the story itself was great!

Melinda Cartwright ran into The Elliot brothers on the road

What a very enjoyable book! I am so glad to have met these characters and been introduced to a new author to enjoy!

Sam and John Elliott run a pecan plantation and are trying to catch smugglers that are infiltrating their shipments.

The author did a great job of creating characters that I felt deeply invested

“This instinct for love, so firmly implanted in the human heart, is the supreme way by which we learn to desire and love God himself above all else.”

So writes Hannah Hurnard in the preface to her allegory, Hinds’ Feet on High Places. Hurnard’s sentiment expresses most profoundly, why I write romantic fiction. Through these stories, I seek, first and foremost, to glorify God. I trust that the
