If you're going to be a new dad, this is the book to read. I would say this book is rather basic, but it's meant to be a book that pushes you to face the reality of the special event in the upcoming months. I enjoyed the humor and witty comments. ...more

1.5. very basic overview. "This will happen," with no explanation. If it's your first parenting book, it will ease you into what to expect. If you've already learned a bit about parenting, you can skip this one. ...more

Pretty good overall guide I feel, probably could have been sorted a little better but had good information. A couple things I have some contention with in the True or False sections, but I think it was well done overall. His humor was a little hit or miss but got better throughout the book I felt with less reaching.

Recommended for new dads who're still figuring out what just happened!

While general parenting advice can be found in a lot of places - it's the calm and friendly way in which John put across content in his books that helped with emotional comfort not found online or talking to other people.
