This is like The Secret but for people who don't like magical thinking.
On a more serious note, like all good self-help books, you will probably read this and think "that's just common sense" but then ask yourself this:
"If it is common sense, why am I not doing it?" ...more

Plot summary
This book describes the theory and practice behind Weldon Long's amazing journey from high school dropout, derelict dad, and prison inmate to upright, wealthy, contributing member of the human community. The first three chapters are theoretical and deal primarily with the importance of the thoughts that dominate our stream of consciousness. Long emphasizes that thoughts produce feelings, which produce expectations that eventually come true. In other words, we indeed are what we think ...more

It is 1 of my top 2 books of all time! The day before I read this book, I spoke, wrote, and thought about every subject that was in this book AND ALMOST VERBATIM everything I spoke about appeared in the pages of this piece of literature (Weldon Long read my mind!). The way Weldon Long explains the utility of The Power of Consistency simply makes sense and you'll want to engage in the process as well! He reiterates certain points in the book so they continued to stick within your mind and uses ma

I’ll say that it is absolutely an impressive feat that Long found himself imprisoned in federal prisons on three occasions for over a decade then moved onto making millions of dollars less than a couple years after he got out. THAT is amazing willpower, determination, and hard work.
I’ll also say that he doesn’t address environmental factors well (ex. Systemic racism, sexism, etc.) and how they affect this very optimistic view he has. He is a white man so it makes sense that they aren’t addresse ...more

Weldon Long's story removes all excuses. He implements the success principles we have all come to know through Stephen Covey, James Allen, Thoreau, and others after being in prison for the first half of his life and then sets out to build a $20m company over 5 years, restores a beautiful and fruitful relationship with his son, and creates a life where there was only destruction prior to his encounter with these teachings.

I read this book on direction of a coach in a new field I am choosing to pursue. At 55 years old the thought of starting a new reality is somewhat daunting. If that's what I thought, it surely is what I was going to encounter. Sometimes you just have to be open to seeing the same thing in a different way. Dumping my box and starting today. After all yesterday is a wrap. I will be sending this in hard copy to my son. He is handsome and charming. He is also in prison. I am hopef ...more

this is a book I will return to time and time again. there is nothing earth shattering here, only the most straightforward, no BS delivery I've heard in ages. the author's reading is uplifting and exciting to me, and it's exactly what I need to return to the basics when human nature takes lulls me back into my comfort zone. and we all know, nothing exceptional happens inside one's comfort zone.

For every complex guru thesis that exists, this book is a different approach. The "power" is in doing the things we know we should be doing with frequency and consistency. If you make more calls, generally you talk to more people. If you workout more frequently you get in better shape.

This was handed out to the entire company and it was suggested we all read it. It wasn't anything I haven't heard before, but most books about success aren't. I did appreciate the reinforced message and took away some good notes to put into practice.

I chose this book because consistency is something I really need to work on. Long's F-E-A-R guidelines are interesting and make sense. Looking forward to reading his Upside of Fear next.
