After Kay Mehl Miller's son phoned her to tell her he is gay, she didn't just work toward understanding his sexual orientation. She went through an inspiring process, over time, of coming to fully embrace him exactly as he is, and in the process, she became a wise advocate for the rights of nonheterosexual people. The book is part personal memoir and part columns Kay wrote about gay/lesbian/transgendered issues for Island Lifestyle Magazine in Hawaii and other publications in California. It is a ...more
