MEOMI is Vicki Wong and Michael Murphy. Vicki and Michael both write and illustrate the Octonauts books - although people tend to assume Vicki is the writer and Michael is the illustrator - this might be because of Michael's wavey hair.

Meomi enjoys spending their time making up silly stories, drinking tea, and drawing strange characters.

Meomi's artwork has been featured in numerous illustration and design books, while their art has appeared on a wide variety of merchandise worldwide. They are the designers of the beloved Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic mascots (Quatchi, Miga, Sumi and Mukmuk), and have created art for such clients as Google, Yo GabbaGabba, Chickadee Magazine, Electronic Arts, Monterey Bay Aquarium, and CBC4Kids.

My son has been a big fan of the Octonauts for the last several weeks, and then my mother-in-law sent him this book tonight and we read it three times in a row!

It's a fun book where we follow the Octonauts as they look for the Vegimals' home habitats by exploring the ocean, and the kelp cake baking takes the cake (as it were). This book also has fun cross-section drawings of the Octopods and the various GUP vessels, but the focus is a bit more on the Vegimals than the main crew. There's also a cool glow-in-the-dark page that my son loved when we turned off the lights.

This was my favorite of the Octonauts books, and M also liked it. The crew explores the ocean looking for the original habitat of the Vegimals, most notably Tunip. Will they ever find the Vegimals' home...?

At long last, I finally got hold of this book! A charming addition to the Octonauts series. When the Vegimals realize that they do not know where they came from, the Octonauts travel with them to all the different undersea habitats. It's an excellent introduction for young children (and adults who still love children's books!) The illustrations are lovely and the storyline simple and clear.

I promptly put in a request that my library purchase this book for our collection.

We're so proud of you for reading about the Octonauts! You learned something beautiful—that every ocean creature matters, no matter how small. Just like Captain Barnacles and his friends help animals in the sea, you can help your friends at school when they need you. Being kind and helping others makes you a hero too! You're becoming such a wonderful reader, and we love seeing you discover new things. Keep exploring books, sweetheart—they're your treasures!

I've never watched this show, but this book is delightful! It cleverly mixes learning science with vocabulary, not to mention the sensory play with raised pages and glow-in-the dark! Very cute!!!

This is a cute story based on the animated TV series The Octonauts. Eight characters go on underwater adventures together, this time to try to find the original habitat of Tunip and his fellow Vegimals. In this book is a fold-out page and some glow-in-the-dark creatures. There is detailed information to add to the story and marvellous illustrations.
I used this book for the Summer part of 52BookClub's 2023 reading challenge, prompt "Pick Your Destination: a book set at the beach."

The Octonauts explore the great big ocean is a greatly colourful book that not only has a wonderful story but it also has some lovely little extras on some pages like different kinds of shells and kelp cakes, extending the fun for little readers and making the book more interactive. I also love the glow in the dark page.
So much detail and colour has gone into all the illustrations, Oliver spent a long time studying them as we read through the story.
The book has a great moral that home really is where you heart is and what you make it and that it's great to have friends. Some lovely life lessons for children, I think.
We really enjoyed The Octonauts explore the great big ocean and will be looking out for more books and now Oliver wants to give the TV show a try!

Favourite illustration
Our favourite was definitely the glow in the dark page! Its really cool and the dark background makes it stand out from the other pages. There's a lot of detail and so much going on in the picture and all the Octonauts equipment is labelled. It's a great picture and would even make a lovely poster.

Little Dude loves this series (both the tv show and the books), and I enjoy reading them to him. Colourful pictures with lots of funny, cute goings-on aside from the main plot. And a dash of learning about sea creatures and habitats too.

Lots of fun information to read aloud to the the kids. Illustrations are so cute and are in a different style than in the television series. There are 2 glow in the dark pages that are really cool.
