Isabelle and her mother have never stayed in a place for too long. They are always on the run because of their disease which makes them irresistible to vampires. Their first night in a new town Isabelle gets caught up in an ancient vampire book in the library and ends up getting surrounded by a group of blood thirsty vampires looking for some fun on her way home. She blurts out "Hail the elder nearest, ruler of the night; Guard me and mine until the dawn's light" and Xavier shows up to protect her from the other vampires, but not without a price. He was the one that hid the summoning spell in the library for "the one meant to find it". He is convinced that they are meant to be together and demands that she stay the night with him for protection, but one night isn't enough for either of them. Her blood calls out to him just as much as he calls out to her.

For being such a short book it really hit all the points for me. You got a short quick background story on why Isabelle and her mother were on the run. A little bit of romance even though Isabelle didn't really return Xavier's passion. And then the climatic ending that leaves you wanting more. It was short, sweet and to the point.

Favorite part...
Isabelle doesn't want anything to do with Xavier and doesn't like that fact that not only can he read her thoughts but he can do so when he is not even with her.
"She needed to sit down. One glance at the bed caused her to look for anywhere else to sit. As soon as the thought came to her, a large armchair materialized behind her. She heard a low growl of pleasure in her head. It was his growl; he delighted in the fact he could provide for her even when he was not there."

Gleaming White (Kindred Curse Anthology, #1)
by Terra Harmony (Goodreads Author)

Synopsis from Goodreads:

"Their very blood betrays them.

A disease passed to each new generation of descendants attracts vampires. Pieces of family history and the secrets to survival are lost as the lineage progresses. The Kindred Curse Anthology prequels lead you back in time, revealing the root of a dynasty's plight and a beginning that ultimately transcends the families end."

Gleaming White is a very short novella that reads like a full novel. Isabella is a young woman who has virtually been on the run for years with her mother following the death of her father and twin sister. There is a mystery behind the world building that keeps you reading to find out just what is really going on. I enjoyed the introduction to the characters and again the hint of mystery lingers in the construction of each. One evening Isabella is unable to make it to her lodging before the sun sets and the action begins. It is difficult to write about this story without giving too much away, so I will simply give my opinion of the read. I enjoyed it very much. I did not feel cheated in anyway by it being a short novella; in fact, I feel the story was well written and resolved with yet just a hint of a promise for more if these characters continue on with a new adventure. I enjoyed the writing style of the author very much and would definitely read more. I would recommend Gleaming White to anyone who is interested in a short read with a hint of mystery, a taste for a new world of vampires, and a touch of sensuality.

I received this book as a gift from the author with no remuneration other than my enjoyment of the read with a request for my honest opinion.

Gleaming White - Vampire Romance

Rating: 4 of 5 stars
Author: Terra Harmony
Format: Kindle

Never staying in one place for any period of time, Isabelle travels with her mother staying one step ahead of the evil that stalks them. Generations of her family have been plagued not only with a unique disease, but because of it, her kind are made irresistible to those that had taken her sister - Gabriella - whose death years earlier still haunts Isabelle. Her hope is to not suffer the same fate. All is well until one night Isabelle finds herself surrounded by a gang of young vampires. Just before they are about to strike, an Elder vampire - Xavier - saves her from the pack. Their shared attraction is immediate, unquenchable, and dangerous as both face a future that could destroy both of them.

Terra Harmony's, “Gleaming White” is a short quick read. Another offering in the vampire genre, this novel is a little more adult than most of its young adult contemporaries given its more intimate passages. I was a bit frustrated with Isabelle's somewhat helpless “fatal attraction” to Xavier, but I did, none-the-less enjoy Harmony's take on the vampire elders and their responsibility for humanity. I also enjoyed the interesting and engaging backstory of Isabelle's family as well as the events which caused her sister's demise.

Gleaming White is a good read and at only $0.99 is quite a bargain. Harmony's writing and characters are engaging and the twist at the end gives readers a nice satisfying treat.

Note: A complementary copy of this work was provided in return for a review.

There is a whole lota (is lota a word? if it wasn't it is now!) story packed into less than 75 pages in this first short story of the Kindred Curse Anthology. I loved it, plain and simple. The story never lets up from the first chapter to the very last page.

Isabelle and her mother are on the run. From vampires. After loosing her twin sister Gabriella who was in love with a vampire and her father to suicide, they don't stay in any place too long. Something is in Isabella's blood that makes her irresistible to the vampires. After arriving in Chattanooga, TN Isabella has a run in with four young vampires and her life is on the line, literally. After being rescued by Xavier, an elder vampire, her whole world will be turned upside down whether she likes it or not. They are both drawn to each other and Xavier will stop at nothing to loose her, even offering her her every wish. The one thing that Isabella wants more than anything is her sister Gabriella back. But can he give her the very thing that she desires?

Gleaming White is so well written that you will feel like you have read a whole novel by the time you reach the end. The ending was outstanding and left me hungering for more.

Isabelle and her mother have been on the run ever since she can remember. A strange disease that is passed on through the blood to every new generation attracts vampires from far and wide - a fact that neither woman can deny.

Having lost her father and her twin sister to the very evil that stalks them night by night, Isabelle finds herself haunted by memories she can't escape. Her heart yearns to be reunited with the part of her that's missing, but she knows that it's impossible. Gabriella is dead and will remain that way for the rest of eternity.

Intrigued by a book she's found at the library, she loses track of time and finds herself surrounded by a pack of vampires who refuse to let her go easily as she tries to make it back home. Inadvertently invoking a spell, she summons forth an entity that must protect her from those around her. Yet she never imagined that her doing so would have dire consequences.

Having attracted the elder vampire's interest, Isabella realizes that her days are numbered. Her blood sings to his and Xavier is convinced that she is the one he's meant to be with. She soon finds herself falling under his spell. Unable to truly break free, she accepts the fact that certain sacrifices must be made. Even if it means losing the one thing that has come to mean the most to her in such a short time.

While this was a short novella, it read and felt as if it were a novel. Terra has such a way of telling the story that you get hooked into it from the very start. While it ends on a cliffhanger, I'm pretty sure that the next part in the series won't disappoint. She's that good of writer and I truly recommend this book.

3 stars, I can't give it more. I like the story of this short story, but like the name implies it is a short story. And I think it could've been more. The whole story is rushed and while the story itself is fascinating, the lack of elaboration and explantion makes it a rushed read that hardly leaves an impression.

First the story. The story itself is very interesting. Isabella is part of a family that has a curse that attracts them to vampires. Sadly mor explanation we don't get. At the beginning of the story isabella and her mother are moving again. Why is not entirely clear, probabaly something to do with the vampires. Then they arrive in a new city and Isabella meets a vampire. From there on it keeps being rushed. Everything happens so fast, that I hardly had time to process it all before the book was already ended. As I said before good story, but it can be so much more than a short story. This story is too good to be rushed like this.

Then the characters. Well practically we get to know nothing about the characters. Isabella and her mother bith mourn the loss of Gabrielle, Isabella's sister. They both cared very much about gabrielle. And that's all we get to know. Again the same point, it is just too rushed. like the author didn't take the time to work it all out and just wrote the main lines of the story without elaborating it.

To conclude a book with a lot of potential, but the whole story feels rushed. I think with a bit more depth and elaboration it could be a very good story, but now it isn't.

The Kindred Curse Anthology by Terra Harmony is a very interesting read. A short story about vampires, the book doesn't take much time to finish. Add to it the fact that the story is quite gripping. A book that can be finished in just one sitting, Gleaming White starts as a story about two twins, one of whom, that is Gabriella, died after being turned into a vampire. Her twin sister, Isabella is the next victim. She becomes the fancy of a vampire Elder, Xavier and is on the way to bringing her sister back to life... The anthology goes backward in time. So generations of vampires are described from the present to the past. From Gabriella and Isabella, we move on to the story of thier mother, Diana. Diana's story was very very interesting. There are in all five stories in the anothology and they all come together to make a very riveting whole.
A nice and different take on vampires, The Kindred Curse Anthology is tiny, interesting and a great read!

I am wavering between 4 and 5 stars on this one! I loooooooooved the concept and overall I loved the stories. It was a fast paced, easy read. I flew right through it! The story was great and I enjoyed it. The only reason I cannot give this a 5 star rating is because it was just too short and TOO fast! I really feel each these short stories could have been full books and still I would have hung on every word! That is my only complaint! This was so different from the Akasha series, but still so good!! I enjoy Terra's style of writing and would love to hear more about Gabriella and Isebelle. There was definitely a lot packed into the stories and I could not stop reading. Another great read from Terra!!!

What a great short story! I was immediately drawn into this story of vampires. The story held your interest from the very first word.

The way the story was written, starting with current times, then back tracking to the beginning with Anna.

Now I have not looked to see if anything else has been written. If so, this is one series I will be following.

The author wrote of some true historical information regarding the conception of Wicca. A few pertinent characters, Anna and Samuel.

For 57 pages, this story delivered a massive whallop! I loved it!

To anyone who enjoys vampires then this is a must read. I enjoyed it immensely and it is satisfying to read about vampires that aren't shy about feeding on humans. In many books today, vampires act disgusted in relation to feeding off of humans and Terra doesn't make it so. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves vampires.

The cover caught my attention...and I think that Ms. Harmony is a name to watch. She rushed it just a bit in releasing this anthology ... great potential, but in need of editing. There are too many character, plot, spelling and punctuation holes to make this worth the 3 or 4 stars the idea deserves. However, she's on my radar.

Very thrilling although short it had quite an elaborate story behind it. I liked the ancient vampire mythology that was the backbone however I felt it just needed a little more in the way of I guess time for everything to be absorbed. Regardless it's good!

The characters were interesting but the plot never developed well enough for me. I disliked the sequencing of the book, working back from current day to the origins of the curse because I felt that the ending which was at the beginning was never fully explained.

A little disappointed. The read was interesting but it didn't finish which left the book very unsatisfying at the end. I kept waiting for the book to come back to the present time to finish the story. That was really the only problem with the book.
