This is a beautiful book and I loved the spacious treatment of the featured historical manuscripts. Rarely are they given so much space and printed so clearly. The projects were also lovely—practical and useful, and simple enough to be approachable. In an ideal world the steps in each project would be broken down further and explained more explicitly, but a book can't be everything to everybody and I just love this one.

Not very daring, not very novel, and if you want ideas for interesting projects, here they are: Do a wall calendar. Do a poster. Make a background with watercolors and lay over some rather dry calligraphy. Done.
