6 stars. Stunning stunning stunning thought provoking book. A collection of Imam Alis sermons, letter and sayings. At times Nietzschean and at other times just superbly honest direct and unchallengly poetic. It challenges you on some of your most basic tenets of belief and makes you realize that there are other ways of looking at something you once regarded previously irrefutable. The book gets better and better as you read through it with the final sayings leaving you numbed under a barage of f

I love this book, but there's a problem... I don't fully believe in its authenticity, and therefore do not recommend it for most people. When I read it several years ago, I was not concerned with its authenticity, although I kept it in mind (if I were an Islamic scholar, however, it would have been of the greatest import). I read it at the recommendation of a Shi'a friend of mine. I found the beauty of the words inside to be very inspiring and spiritually uplifting. They also helped me understan

The sheer wisdom and knowledge contained in this volume is both humbling and awe inspiring. As a collection of Imam Ali's speeches, sayings, writings, and letters, it provides a gateway into the mind of perhaps the wisest and most learned man ever to walk the earth, after the Holy Prophet himself.
After reading this volume, it becomes apparent why Imam Ali's "Peak of Eloquence" is hailed above the words of man, and second only to the revealed words of God Almighty, which are manifested in the Hol ...more

One of the most Amazing and Inspiring books I've ever read...
Imam Ali (as) said: Praise be to Allah Who lies inside all hidden things, and towards Whom all open things guide. He cannot be seen by the eye of an onlooker, but the eye which does not see Him cannot deny Him while the mind that proves His existence cannot perceive Him. I was gifted book (I suspect it was an attempt to proselytize). I began reading the introduction and for a full 40 pages the book kept saying how the writing was truly attributed to Ali. This was an ominous start. The truth is self evident, in my opinion. A book that needed to dedicate 40 pages to claim authenticity begins with a shaky foundation.

This book was out of my depth, period; not because I couldn't comprehend the content, more so because I felt I couldn't do justice to the brilliance of the text, because of lacking requisite scholarship. The chapter explaining the unity of God was brilliant..why can the oneness of God every be quantified.

Imam Ali Bin Abi Taleb, the first Imam of the Ahlul-Bayt and the fourth Caliph of Islam, is well known for his abiding contribution to spiritual thought. In the Arabic and Islamic world he’s just as famous for being a great jurist and man of letters dealing with philosophy, religion, law and politics.
Here we present Imam Ali’s famous letter of advice while Caliph, to the Governor of Egypt, Malik Ashtar. The latter scholar, regarded this letter “as a basic guide in Islamic administration.”

I read Nahjul Balagah sometime ago. NB is one of the important most piece of work for Shia Islam. It is written by Ammeer ul Momneen Ali ibn e Abi Talib a.s. Imam Ali a.s has a personality which each one of us human beings can relate to. He was a father, a farmer, a dispenser of justice, a scholar, a head of a state, a most feared yet compassionate warrior at different point of times in his life.

I really wanted to give this five stars, but a few things prevented me:
- One of those absurdly long introductions that really isn't even worth reading since it goes over a number of things in the text before you even get to them. I skimmed half of it, then skipped the rest. Once you get past the basic stuff about how it was compiled and such, the rest is a bit superfluous.
- Numerous typos, like at least one to three on each page, and sometimes many more.

Scholar Dashti translate a book from Imam Ali the successor of Prophet of Islam. The original book called Nahjol Balagheh that is collected letters and speech of Imam Ali by Seyed Razee 300 years after Ali ibn Abi Talib . There are a lot of Translation of this book in different language including English and Farsi. Between all Farsi translation of Nahjol Balagheh, Mr Dashti tried to use a method of detail classficiation of each part of Ali ibn Abi Talib letters or speeches in a simplest possible

After having read this tome I was convinced that Hazrat Ali was the words first ever Sufi who had nigaah (communion) with the Holy Prophet (PBUH. The depth and profundity of his dictums is mind blowing. There is no doubt in my mind that had Hazrat Ali been the first Caliph the Muslim ummah would have been in a much better state for the simple fact that Hazrat Ali had spiritual wisdom as well as eloquence and above all he the gift of judgement. Some of the letters to Muawiah do show a partisan te

Again, this is one of those religious books that have such a large consumer base drawing on their wisdoms, that for a Muslim believing in the divine connection to the utterances it contains, reviewing these masterpieces seems futile. Still I will endeavour to do so. It may by happenstance grasp the attention of a non-Muslim, or even non-Shi’a Muslim audience thereby.

You would be hard pressed to find a book that is more stirring in the wisdom it imparts unto the reader. A guide on how to live life from one of the great paragons of Islamic history, the Nahjul Balagha is a way in which a human may conduct him/herself in such a way as to live an honorable, modest, and kindly life.
