The Call

Mating Call

Rate this book

Stephanie has three rules when it comes to her relationship with werewolves Shaw and Jordan—keep their lusty encounters casual, never invade each other’s space and no biting. The boys have always seemed perfectly fine with all that, leaving her plenty of time to do her magick and keep her shop going.

Her rules come back to haunt her when the local pack leader gives Jordan and Shaw an ultimatum—find a mate or find another city to live in. Jordan and Shaw hate having to ask Stephanie to help them find a mate. She’s not just their best friend, she’s the hottest lover they’ve ever had. The boys will have their hands full convincing Steph that rules are made to be broken, before it is too late.

Lots of coffee. Really good coffee.

Steamy, sexy, short. Stephanie must do what is right for her. But would losing the two she cherish the most be in her best interest. Helping Jordan and Shaw should be as simple as casting a simple spell. Right? Wrong. Stephanie finds that she was that mate that her two males are looking for. She of course thinks things are wrong. There was fun watching the attempts made to convince Stephanie she was theirs. Jordan and Shaw are weres and dating or wooing was not a strong point for them.

Jordan and Shaw are a great balance to each other while Stephanie was the compliment to them both. She was unwilling to see that right away. Then between her dating and trying to set the boys up with someone more appropriate. Other things begin to happen. The ultimatum was issued for a reason. Why now?

Being the lifetime plaything of two hot males has its perks. Especially when they too are in a relationship with each other. Dare I say hot stuff indeed.

“No strings” dating sounded great to Stephanie but only up to the point where she realized that no strings meant her wolves would have to look elsewhere for a mate. She might have to give them up but she didn’t have to be happy about it.

Boys can be so clueless sometimes. Jordan and Shaw are trying to obey the packs orders to find a mate. Even without knowing that the three of them belonged together, I could see that Jordan and Shaw wouldn’t be happy with anyone but Stephanie and vice versa. Their story was going to be one of those “You don’t know what you got till it’s (almost) gone” type tropes. I figured that out pretty early on but it didn’t detract from the story in the least. I was anticipating how the author would bring them all to the realization that they didn’t just have great chemistry during the full moon phases. They were totally meant to be!

I liked all three of the characters in Ms. Tortuga’s short story but Shaw is just precious. He’s such a typical wolf pup. He’s eager to please, loves to play and he wants so bad to keep Stephanie. Jordan isn’t the pack alpha but he clearly makes the calls for this threesome. He’s just controlling enough with the right amount of gruff to keep both Shaw and Stephanie on their toes and ready to follow orders. Stephanie comes from a long line of magick. She’s independent, talented and is just realizing how much actually loves two clueless wolves.

Ms. Tortuga doesn’t make her readers wait long to see just how hot these three are together. The first time is fast and sweaty but who can blame them when they only see each other once a month. It works for this story. Plus, I knew the true plot would deal with how the guys would talk Steph into helping them find their mate, how she’d take the news and how they’d eventually find their HEA, because they simply had to end up together. Ms. Tortuga didn’t disappoint. It’s not all mating and fun for Steph and the guys. Someone’s come to town to cause some trouble and does he ever?

Be sure to play close attention to Stephanie’s friend Wendy. I think we’ll be seeing more of her as well as the pack alpha, Brett. At least I hope to read their story! If a short, hot, tension wrapped little novella is what you’re in the mood for and you fancy the paranormal like I do, be sure to pick up a copy of Mating Call.

This is my first read from B.A. Tortuga and I enjoyed it so much. I will definitely be looking for more from her. Mating Call was sexy, short and entertaining~about 92 pages. I was immediately pulled in by such a well written story with such sweet and funny characters. The story was unique and interesting and I just loved it. I was left wanting so much more of Stephanie, Jordan and Shaw. I wasn't ready to leave them when the story ended.

Mating Call was filled with laughter, romance, a little heartache, some tears, one sexy ~ more serious ~ lovable ~ wolf shifter and another more playful ~ sweet ~ just as lovable wolf shifter and a kick ass ~ sweet ~ funny ~ magical heroine. It was so adorable and funny reading about how Jordan and Shaw tried to make up to Stephanie for hurting her. I loved that she didn't give into them so easily but made them work a little to win her back. She was such a great heroine and I loved how she handled Jordan and Shaw.

The sex scenes were definitely hot but there was also a real intimacy shared between them not only as a trio but also as couples that added so much to the story. I especially loved the sex scene towards the end of the book. *sigh*

I wanted Jordan, Shaw and Stephanie to get their HEA together so bad. And although the ending was happy, it felt like more of a happily-for-now. The ending confused me a little because it felt like the story wasn't finished. There were still a few things left open at the end. So, I'm hoping that this turns out to be a series, but I can't find any information that this is the case. *crossesfingers* I definitely want to read more about Brett and Wendy.

Just a great story that was a quick read but lacked nothing. 3 out of 5 rating!!

Stephanie is best friends with Shaw and Jordan. Shaw and Jordan are a couple and they are werewolves as well. Stephanie has rules she uses to keep her distance from loving Jordan and Shaw too much. Keep all lusty encounters casual, give each other plenty of space, and absolutely no biting. Jordan and Shaw seem fine with those rules, that is until their pack alpha gives them an ultimatum. They must find a mate or leave the city for good. The only one they can think of to mate with is Stephanie, but Stephanie is not a werewolf. She tries to hook the boys up with other potential mates and goes on dates herself. But Shaw and Jordan know who Stephanie is to them. She is their mate and they do not plan on letting her get away from them no matter how she protests.

Mating Call by B.A. Tortuga is a really nice story. I liked the characters of Shaw and Jordan. Jordan is the more alpha—he tends to be intense and strong while Shaw is the light-hearted, happy-go-lucky one. They are a great balance. Stephanie is strong, self reliant, and stubborn. She has many facets that make her a really fun character to read about.

I am huge B.A. Tortuga fan; this book is good—really good—but not as great as some of her other works. I still really enjoyed the read, but knowing the author has written much more amazing stuff kind made this book feel average to me. I felt a good connection with characters but not an amazing one. It is an average read if you ask me, though one I liked a lot.

Check out the review of this (not mine but anothers) on www.twinsietalk.blogspot.com

So my friend read this book too me while we were driving to RT. She told me it was awesome and I must agree to it. I mean M/M is hot and then make it M/M/F and I am SOLD!!!! How ever it is very awkward reading sex scenes to your friend or listening to your friend read them to you.

Ok so this is a short sweet novella but here is the jist of it...Jordan is alpha male and Shaw is his pack mate. They are involved in a M/M relationship. However they both enjoy the company of witch Stephanie. They go to see her and right after sex ask her to help with a spell to find their mate. Well friends she was kinda mad but does it. Guess who the spell says is their mate??? Yup She is but she refuses to believe it.

The story is them trying to win her. their "whooing" of her was a riot!!! I mean what human doesnt want chewed up flowers and a dead rabbit delivered to her door??? LOL Well while trying to Whoo here there is drama afoot with Steph's date..yeah she kinda doesnt believe she is their mate and dates another man!!! Giggles...the boys were a but mad but then framed for doing something bad. I am going to kinda leave my review at this point. i want to leave you hanging so you are desperate to know what happened next!!!

I will say i cant wait to read book 2~~

This was a great short read. I don’t want to give too much away in the review.
Jordan and Shaw are put in a hard spot they have to ask their lover and best friend, Stephanie, to help them find a mate or they have to leave the pack. Shaw doesn’t have the best of timing asking her to help them and she is emotionally hurt. She agrees to help them find their mate and in doing so the boys realize they made a mistake. They try to woo her back in a way that they think will knock her socks off and boy were they off on that one.
The boys are persistent at trying to convince Steph that she is their mate but she does a good job at resisting. She does not believe she is or even can be their mate since she is not a werewolf. Want to find out if Steph is their true mate and if the boys were able to convince her of that? I guess you will have to pick up a copy of the book and check it out.

I enjoyed this hot and sexy M/F/M shapeshifter novella. The heroine has three very big verbs to her name; strong, self-reliant, and stubborn. Then again she was three great qualities too; independent, talented, and loves her wolves. What made this a fun read was how the two wolves wooed her. That is not counting the time of other men wanting to date her.

Fans of a short, steamy paranormal story with wonderful tension; this a relaxing mood book.

This is the first book I have read by BA Tortuga. I can't say I loved this book but it was a pretty good read. The storyline and characters were fairly well developed, however if they had bee developed a little more I think the story would have flowed better for me. Having said that I found the to be a fun, sexy, quick read. If you are looking for a quick read I recommend this book. Our blog was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

The reason for two stars was because the book left you hanging on the drama. The book was just starting to get good and bamm, it ended.

I tried to see if it was a series kind of book but came up with nothing.

It was a bit better than the other werewolf stories but I felt ripped off in the long run. I expected a little bit more than what I got.

Good, not great, m/m/f witch/shifter story. The plot wasn’t developed to it’s potential, and everything felt surface, no deep emotions. Good enough that I will try the second book.
