Honestly, when I read all of the other reviews for this book I thought I was in for a good read. It does have a plot, if you call a bluntly told "this is what she is, he wants her dead, he wants her alive, and she won't freak out at all" a plot. There was no suspense, the action at the end was robotic, and the fact she would only question what was happening for five paragraphs before agreeing with whatever was going on...kinda made me a little frustrated. It was mostly dialogue as well, and whil ...more

Title: Tiger Time
Series: Alaskan Tigers Book 1
Note: Book 1, not a standalone book, does end as a cliff hanger
Author: Marissa Dobson

This is my review of Tiger Time. I got this first book in the series free through its normal set price. This is the beginning of a great set. Be warned though you will not want to stop with just this one book and I now have all the rest on my TBR list.

Tabitha Leigh is an ex foster kid who is trying to eek out a living. With a crappy apartment, crappy job, and only on

I just started reading the Alaskan Tigers series. Tabitha has grown up in foster care which has made her tough and dependent. This is to her benefit when Ty comes into the picture and starts answering her questions about her past. Tabatha finally finds where she fits in after feeling out of place for most of her life. With her new found role, she’s learning to trust her instincts and use the gifts of her linage. I’m excited to see where the rest of this series will lead!

Oh dear , I wanted to like this book and I am pretty tolerant of writing styles . But arghhhhhhh . Could not get past the third chapter. It was like reading the back of the cereal packet if it was attempting to be a paranormal romance .... Sorry
Not sure how it got such good reviews .....

What I liked:

The plot (check) The basic story wasn't something we never read before (for you readers out there who crave PNR/UF) Tabitha is a young woman who struggles through her life to work/eat/sleep and barely survive when she finds out that she's a ''were-tiger''. With the help of Ty, she will come to understand her shifting ability and other powers, but more than that: she isn't just any were-tiger; she's to become the Queen of the entire ''nation'' of were-tigers. Well, as a true lover of

Tabitha Leigh's life has been a quiet, albeit displeasing, one up until now. She's barely been able to survive, and has been looking for something more. Something that would give her life meaning. Debating the outcome of her future, she's decided that perhaps she'd be better off living in Alaska. The idea of living in a new place appeals to her, and she's looking forward to things, even if she won't admit it. The only thing keeping her rooted in Pittsburgh is the fact that she doesn't want to le ...more

4 stars. This is a re-read for me. I already know I love the series as a whole. This first book originally just had so many flaws from a beginning writer. Marissa Dobson has grown a lot in her writing ability and I am trilled she went back to rework the first two books in the series.
Tabitha and Ty are great! Tabitha now has a inner dialog that sounds a little more mature and not so rushed to trust. As for Ty he now explains and sometimes talks to Tabitha be

This is a quick book, that I thought was going to be dirtier than it was.

Tabitha is the last in her line of Tigers. She is, in fact, the key to their survival. If she goes, they all do. Sad situation to be in. No fear, because Ty is there to protect her and claim her as his mate, making him the King to her Queen. They need to head to Alaska to be with their clan of tigers. All anxious for her arrival. Getting Tabby there alive is the problem, when a bitten tiger shifter is looking for her. He w

I have to say this book was engrossing. I could not put it down. There was some romance, some suspense, some shifting and some intrigue. I am pleasantly surprised at how much I really liked this story.

I do have to say that it is a continuing story so the story does not really end with this book. I have the second one already so I can not wait to read The Tiger’s Heart.

I enjoyed the character of Tabitha. She is strong and yet vulnerable at the same time.

So when I think tigers, I do not immediately jump to Alaska in my brain, so I was immediately intrigued by this title and had to find out more. I love shifters and idea that there were huge felines in Alaska intrigued me. This is the first book in her Alaskan Tigers series and the first book I have read by her. It will not, however, be the last. The world Marissa has created for her shifters is fascinating with likable characters that are easy to relate to. The story had a lot of very familiar e ...more

When I first read a review for Tiger Time, I knew this was a must read. Now I know that it is definitely a must read for anyone that like were romances. It's definitely one of those that draws you immediately into the story, and never lets you go. I really enjoyed the sparks between Ty and Tabby, there was definitely some sizzling passion going on, but I also loved the emotional bond that forms too. There was also a bit of a mystery and intrigue element that added a bit of spice to the story. I ...more

Tiger Time by Marissa Dobson 4 Stars

This is the first Tiger Shifter book I have read and was pleasantly surprised.
Meet Tabitha who was raised by the state thinking her parents were killed in a car accident, she is actually a Tiger shifter but doesn't know it. She is about to go thru the transformation without realizing it. Here come Alaska Tiger Shifter Ty to the rescue, sweet.

Ty made a promise to her father before he died that he would protect her with his life if indeed she showed signs of tr

I was given a complimentary copy by author Marissa Dobson for an honest review. This is book 1 of the Alaskan Tigers series by the author.

Tabitha Leigh grew up in the system and always wondered about her parents. Lately she just hasn't been feeling herself and with each passing day the symptoms seem to get worse. When a stranger comes into her life Tabitha feels like she found home. Ty Reynolds is an alpha and has been watching and waiting for Tabitha to come into her own. Now that he has her he

I gotta be honest, this was almost a one star read for me. At least there weren't tons of typos? sigh.
here's the thing, the idea of the plot was pretty good. nothing super innovative, but it had the makings of a solid story. The execution...was seriously SERIOUSLY lacking. Conflict resolved before it could bring any tension to the story, no serious pushback on anything even if it could reasonably be treated with skepticism, too much exposition, no build up to plot revelations, too much tell wit

I picked this book up because it sounded interesting, even though it had the stupidest title ever. I loved the idea of soul mates and shifters. But I hated the fact that nothing really interesting happened in the book. There was one attack and nothing else. I mean I at lease expected for Tabby to shift for the first time in this book, but no, which sucks because the next book isn't even from her POV so you'll never really get to see her go through that. While I'm curious as to see what will even ...more

I love the story behind it, this was a quick read, from start to finish was three hours. Tabitha is sick with the flu, actually her body id getting ready for the Change but she never did chance in this story but her tiger abilities have become enhanced. But when a letter and this stranger appeared and told her all about her and her parents she took it all in stride, no once did she freak out, even with a couple of murders after her, she never freaked. As more time she is around their clan of tig ...more

I gave this book 2 stars mainly because it seemed a bit rushed, I didn't feel a connection to the characters, there were a few errors, etc...

I gave it 2 stars instead of none or 1 because with all that I said before, it still left me wondering what would happen in this world. How is this going to play out with a new queen who doesn't know anything about how things are supposed to be? Are the other characters going to find their mates? How long will it take for them to find true peace?

It definite

This is my first book by this author.
Whilst I loved the storyline and could see this becoming a great series I think the fact that Tabitha was too young at 19 to do her part credit spoilt it. If she had been just a few years older she would have seemed more mature and fit for the role of Queen.
I did like Ty and would have loved his character to be more developed. Thought it was strange he was only 28 but a friend of her father. HUH!
The background story and what is happening I enjoyed and will r

Tabitha is a product of the care system and living an existence working as a waitress. Ty is the alpha of a group of tiger shifters and was helped by Tabitha's father before he was killed and is about to rock her world to the core when he finds her and tells her about her father and what she really is.

I enjoyed the book and the style of writing helped me to live through the things she was experiencing. However it was a little too hard to relate to - she handled being told she was a tiger shifter

Really? That's the story?
1 of the worst shifter romances I have ever made the mistake of reading! Do not make the same mistake.

The h is a young female, who was basically an orphan. She is dealing with being what she thinks is the flu. But is her body starting the change into a tiger. Drama happens, then the H shows up. She doesn't make him work for anything, no spark or chemistry between them. Blah, Blah, stuff happens and still there is nothing between the characters. The ending isn't so much

This was a different type of shifter story. It adds royalty and some special powers. We have a woman whose life was not what it was supposed to be and who is now learning what that is. Then we have an alpha shifter who has always known and shows up at her time of need to explain what is happening and what it will lead to, but he's not the only one who knows. She finally has a family that makes her feel right and learns she also has an enemy.

I understand that this was the authors first book in th

Big Tigers oh my...

This author knew what she was doing with this book. The characters are great and the way she introduces you to the main characters was fast yet it was easy. Tabitha didn't know what she was and knew being sick was tiring till she meets Ty the Alpha Tiger shifter who just happens to be her mate! That's all the spoilers your gonna get from me! This author did a very good job with this book. And it looks like the next one will be good too!

Tiger burning bright

This story is fabulous . Marissa has given you shifters , Queen and King, villains, noble guest, and traitors all in one story. That one has specialized powers and knowledge hole the mate has the know how and the brawns just makes it more exciting. That the female is Queen and can fulfill the prophecy or prevent it makes it more intense. A must read series for anyone who likes shifter romance stories.

Old Stories

Absolutely love how this story begins and the stories passed down through generations. Tabitha just randomly accepting her fate so willingly is very challenging for me to accept. However, the grace and fairness she shows towards her people is genuinely related to her importance. Looking forward to the rest of the story ~
