The animals made in this book are actually very realistic. I found the first one difficult to follow (the elephant) because I was unfamiliar with the technique but once I figured out what I was doing it became easier with each animal.

I enjoyed this book. I've sewn about half of the animal patterns so far, and I've been pleased with the results. However, I found the instructions confusing and/or unclear in places. Overall, the book makes a great addition to the shelf in my sewing room!
