The cover was different so maybe I read an older version, but I read this in the late 1980s when I was in middle school. My mom gave it to me in lieu of hanging awkward conversations and it was seriously helpful. Plus it made me feel all grown up and not talked down to — two things that were in high demand for 12 year old me.

I graduated to Sassy magazine and which has the same frank tone toward sex and bodies and also talked about music and was not lame like other glossy teen mags.

I don’t know where the book is now. I outgrew it, of course, but I’m glad I had it in those early days and would encourage parents to share similar books with their curious, awkward tweens.

I was Uber religious at that point in my life, and I wasnt getting both sides of the story at church or the religious school I attended. I found the book shocking at times, but it kept me hip to reality because I have a sister and my friends… well I didn’t see any of them as reliable sources.

I wonder if books like this have any place post-internet? Perhaps yes, because there is so much whacky info out there that it’s always swell if there’s an editor and some kind of review process.

I honestly love this book. I believe its one of those books that actually can relate to. For all the girls i truly believe you would enjoy this book. There are all sorts of topics. Friendship. Love. Sex. Education. Family and anything that there is to the girl life. I also like the advice the author gives. She gives reasonable advice. I personally think any girls that read this book will learn so much and are going to be able to relate and make connections. I recommend this book to any girls. Maybe some boys who read it might learn a thing or too.

I remembered how amazed I was to ever read such a well-researched and amazingly written book for girls. As a teenager, I find it really hard to ask others about my body, relationships and just about everything. Thanks to this book, I've learnt so much and I'm happy to know that it's helping many others who read this too.

I like the book because it tells you about life and about high school...

I would recomend this book to all teenaged girl going threw life and this that come along with it.If you cant talk to anyone in your life you can read this book.

This book taught me what penis in vagina sex is and that that’s how people get pregnant. Super outdated sex Ed/puberty/teen/growing up book but I guess was okay for the 90s?
