Good book. Skylar has been sent undercover to Matt's ranch to find out the location of the large stash of ammunition that Matt is supposedly selling to a Mexican drug cartel. She is devoted to her job and is known for bringing her cases to a successful conclusion. Five years earlier her husband and son were killed during a bank robbery and she feels guilty about it. Going after the bad guys is her way of dealing with her loss. She was not expecting an immediate and intense attraction to Matt - t ...more

So this may have been the highlight of my life. I went to one of my favorite used bookstores to restock my supply of brainless fluff and they were doing a summer deal: big theme bags of books at discount prices. "Spend the summer with a vampire." "Spend the summer out west." Etc. I got a shopping bag full of romantic suspense for $14.95. It's like 40 books! I felt like a dragon. Like I should spread my book hoard around me and sleep on top of it.

However. Once the acquisitive glow faded, I had to

This was a good book. Skylar’s husband and little boy was murdered five years ago. As a way to deal with the pain, she focused all her time and energy into her job. First as Police, then later as AFT. She was sent undercover to Matt’s ranch to locate a large stash of ammunition. From the first time Matt, and Skylar met the Chemistry was strong. She had never fallen for anyone when she was working a case. She does not understand this strong attraction. Matt had also lost his family. He wants reve ...more

I really liked the book. The action, suspense and development of the relationship was great. The description of the behavior of the heroine's border collie was spot on. However, I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars because as someone who grew up with horses, I was left scratching my head about a lot of the horse stuff. The author kept using "bit" when I think she meant "bridle." Also, I have a hard time believing that a former Special Ops guy -- and a Texan -- would opt for Arabians. Still, a good one ...more

A good book that keeps you interested. This had good characters, personalities, some suspense, a little action, great animals, emotions, some steaminess, and a good ending. I liked this and enjoyed reading it. However, it would be more of a book to read to pass time or for relaxing and doesn't really get the heart pounding or breath holding. Good for anytime and a more relaxed feeling suspense. Enjoy

Karen Whiddon spun fanciful tales for her younger brothers as early as the age of eleven. Growing up in the Catskill Mountains of New York, then the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, she found enough magic in the rugged peaks to keep her imagination fueled for years.

Now making her home in North Texas, she shares her life with her hero-like husband and three doting dogs. She writes paranormal tales for
