I was lucky enough to see a post on Facebook about this being on the Amazon Kindle Lending Library and the day I saw it was the last day it was available too. I'm really happy I did because I had yet to decide what to borrow.

I wanted to love this book from page one, it had a great concept behind it and as Emmeline didn't know about her heritage or powers we found out about them along with her, wh

If you are like me and are always looking for a book to get lost in, The Last Witch is it! The characters kept popping into my head during the day, and I couldn't wait for my nighttime reading . This book will result in late nights and lack of sleep! So worth it. The characters were well developed, and although I am by no means a part of the young adult audience, I found them to be age appropriate yet mature. Emmeline could be a worthy heroine for girls. Not once did I roll my eyes at their sill ...more

This is a really different type of book for me. For some reason, books about witches and witchcraft tend to not make it into my TBR pile, which I am quickly regretting

The Last Witch is a great story about Emmeline, a girl not experienced in the world or with people. Suddenly taken from her home and her life, she is thrown into a castle where she is held captive to save her own life. Torn between the love of outdoors and being safe - she is stumbling through making new friends and trying to prote

Okay, okay, I held off as long as I could! But obviously I can't control myself so I'm reviewing my own book. Am I a total doofus? Of course, I thought it was amazing! :D :D

Detailed Review: I honestly liked the storyline, truly liked it because it was just too good to stay away from. I love the cover, which is especially lovely!

The story starts with Emmeline Durandi complaining that she's bored and lonely but then she hears a sound from outside her isolated house in Pamizak. It's the thunder of horses' hooves. Her father, who had been with her, immediately goes into a frenzy and starts packin

Ok, firstly, I couldn’t stop reading this. I stayed up until 2 am trying to get to the end and hoping that this was going to be a part of a series.

Secondly, the ending was fabulous. I don’t normally talk about endings at the beginning of my reviews but it was so good that it could have been the end of the story. No cliff hanger. But I so want to know more about Emmeline! I was very pleased to find out that this is book one! YAY!

Ok, now for the characters, Emmeline is fabulous. She doesn’t know a

The Last Witch is a fairy tale, but it doesn't have the textbook happy ending. Emmeline is a poor farm girl who discovers that she has special powers that everyone seems to want to control, but she is betrothed to a prince in a country she has never heard of. When it's time for her to marry him she isn't sure she wants to be stuck married to some guy she doesn't love just to unit the two countries. There are various villains in this book and it is sometimes hard to figure out who is really tryin ...more

Debbie Dee captured my attention within the first few pages and held my attention until the very end. It's rare for a book to keep me enthralled as The Last Witch did. I credit the innocent, loving characters of Emmeline and Erick and the intriguing plot for keeping me immersed in the story. Emmeline is such a sweet character. Like most young adults, she struggles to understand her heritage and place in the world. She recently learned she was the last incenga witch. However, she doesn't understa ...more

I received this book free from the quote in exchange for and honest review.
I fell in love with this book from the moment I started to read it. Debbie Dee has created a scary but beautiful nation hell bent on the extinction of witches and even going to fight wars over it. But luckily we find out that there is one last witch. There is so much present in this novel but also just as much good. Everything keeps you begging for more. I also enjoyed the idea that the Incenaga witches harness their pow

First I got a want to mention I got a copy of this book from the author herself. It in no way altered my feelings for this book (which are of my own opinion). I am grateful for the opportunity I had to read it. Now, on to the review.

I can't say I loved this book but I didn't hate it either. Half of the time I was found myself wanting to scream at Emmaline for this or that. The other half I enjoyed. This book starts off great. You get drawn in from the very first page. The author's attention to

I don't normally read fantasy of any sort, but a family member recommended this book, so I thought I'd break out of inspirational romance mode and give it a try. . . and I could hardly put it down and can't wait for the next book in the series.

Good usually overcomes evil, but it's hard to tell in The Last Witch who is good and who is really evil but pretending to be good. I think the book has a good lesson for young people to not be caught up in good looks and nice words and make sure they don't

I really adored this book and stayed up way too late finishing it because I couldn't put it down. It's always rather wonderful when you find a book that captures your imagination so entirely that you are literally craving reading time, thinking about the characters while you are doing your dishes, and then immediately recommend the book to friends as soon as you are finished so that you can have someone to hash it all out with. The book reminded me a bit of Shannon Hale's Books of Bayern Series. ...more

This book was amazing... Once I started I did not want to put it down. I regretfully had too because of my job, but I found myself thinking of all the characters while I was away and compelled to finish it as soon as possible . This book has everything for every type of reader. Action, adventure, mystery, romance and fantasy. The main character Emmeline transformation in this book is wonderful. The strength she gains is empowering. This story had me at the edge of my seat, biting my nails and he ...more

I really enjoyed this story. It was fun, sweet, and had a bit of adventure throughout. The romance I felt was a bit obvious, but really cute and sweet so that more than made up for it. Emmeline is a strong character with a lot of determination that you just have to admire. Erick is a strong character, who is a perfect hero with a couple of flaws thrown in to boot. I love their story. The plot is well created and leads you through the story while still managing a few good surprises and mysteries. ...more

Usually I don’t read witchy/fantasy books but despite this, I found myself really enjoying this book. The storyline was different and interesting, I found myself being sucked into the world of Emmeline and feeling exactly what she was. I didn’t ever find myself bored with the book- something really rare for me when it comes to fantasy novels. I absolutely loved the ending, and I was completely surprised by the little twist at the end.

I started reading and couldn't put it down. I finished it in one day and I loved it. I love fantasy books, and this one is a fantasy/fairy tale that any one would love to read. I fell in love with the characters and Debbie Dee has a way of capturing you into the story. I loved the idea of an Incenaga witch. I'm hoping that the #1 behind the title means that there are more to come! I can wait to read about Emmeline and Erick. :)

Oh my goodness!! This book was so captivating and engaging!! I couldn't put it down once I started!! The characters are well developed and the story line was original and kept you guessing!! The imagery the author invokes through her words make it feel like you are there with the characters experiencing everything first hand. The only disappointment I had was that there wasn't a date for the release of the sequel in this trilogy!! Well done Mrs. Debbie Dee, well done indeed!!

This story is full of nail biting, heart pounding, nerve-wracking action and dilemmas for Emmeline & Erick to face. This book really has it all - good guys, bad guys, fights, death, adventure, mystery, sweet romance (perfectly YA) and the fantasy aspect of witches. I didn't want it to end and I look forward to the story continuing! I can't wait to continue Emmeline & Erick's story & see what the "bad guys" come up with next!

Very well written. I won a copy through the giveaway, and was very excited when it came in the mail. I could not stop reading, staying up late just to read a little more. I wish it was longer as I love the chemistry between Emmeline and Erick. Can't wait to read the next one. Keep them coming Debbie Dee.

I liked the story but the writing felt a little jerky to me...did not really flow. There were some modern slang type words and descriptions that did not fit the timeline of the story and some typos that annoyed me. I knew who the prince was by chapter 6 which kinda ruined the story. The harp totally gave it away . It was a fast read.

Great story! It had adventure, romance, suspense and the perfect number of twists and surprises to keep me guessing. It reminded me of The Princess Bride, which is another great story. I wish this author had more for me to read. I'm going to have to add this one to my favorites list!

I could not put this book down! I read it in one day. The author is extremely talented and I hope that she writes many more. Can't wait for the second one to come out!!!
Nice coming-of-age story about a young girl who is snatched from the comfort and love of her isolated forest home and discovers she has powers and a royal heritage she had never known about. Engaged to the crown prince of a threatening neighbor kingdom in a political marriage to lessen the tensions between her country and theirs, she has to figure out who to trust and how to handle her powers. In a way, the story is a kind of lightweight cousin of Shannon Hale's Bayern series, but without the de ...more
