A burning love. A dangerous secret. The world doesn’t stand a chance.I fell in love with Jordy Ramirez on the day of my father’s funeral. I didn’t care that he was my brother’s best friend, or six years older than me. He values family and loyalty above all else, so when my brother employs him as my personal bodyguard, I know he’ll never touch me.

But on my twenty-first birthday, he does.

It was stupid to assume my high profile last name wouldn’t bring danger to our doorstep. When a decades-old family secret leaves utter devastation in its wake, our path to love erupts in flames.

The threat forces us into an unimaginable new reality controlled by an organization willing to sacrifice the many for the few. We have no choice but to keep moving. Keep fighting. Infinitum thinks I’m their savior, a beacon of hope for their sinister future filled with pretty lies and false promises. What they don’t know is that I’ve found my hope. He's brutal, highly trained, and will protect me with the ferocity of a warrior.

They call me Phoenix, and I’ll burn the world to ashes if they get between me and the man I love.

Code Phoenix is a steamy and suspenseful super soldier romance and contains scenes that some readers may find disturbing. It is intended for an adult audience. Check the author’s website for a complete list of content warnings.

Laura Mowery has had her nose in a book since she learned her ABC’s, so it's no surprise that she pursued a career as an author. She grew up obsessed with stories, especially any that included supernatural or otherworldly elements. She also loved to get swept away on romantic adventures. Now she gets to combine the two and write about what she loves; suspense, superpowers, and steamy romance.

Laura lives in San Diego, CA with her husband, two cats and a dog. If she’s not writing, you’ll find her adventuring with her husband, eating tacos, drinking local craft beer, or curled up with a book.

This is book 5 in Laura Mowery’s Infinitum series. These books are NOT standalones. They build off each other and are meant to be read in order. While my review does not have spoilers to Phoenix - it will contain spoilers to previous books. Go read those first, starting with Code Name: Timberwolf.

Seriously, do not start here. 😉

Hands down this was my favorite book of the series. I love, love, LOVE series like this where all the stories and events build on each other. Mowery has created a huge and complicated cast of characters and events that I adored getting lost in. On top of that Jordy and Skye were my favorite couple (sorry John & Sylvie). Brother’s Best Friend/Best Friend’s Sister and Friends to Lovers are my favorite tropes as well.

The first half of the book spans nearly a decade from when Skye’s (& Luke’s) dad is killed. Skye is only 15 and commiserates with Luke’s friend Jordy who also lost his father at the same age. I love the way Mowery shows the evolution from friendship to more (once everyone is well into legal age). It’s not without struggle, but so worth the fight.

Then, together, Jordy and Skye and the rest of the group face Infinitum in ways they expect but with results they never imagined. Huge secrets will be revealed and as always everyone’s life is changed forever. Mowery keeps the allegiances of a few characters somewhat grey - which adds to the suspense and mystery. The pacing was so well done throughout that I never wanted to set the book down.

I loved Jordy & Skye’s HFN, but as always there’s new secrets uncovered. I’m so excited for Clay and Spector’s books - hating and loving that Mowery has at least two more books in the series. I simultaneously want it to go on forever and I want all the answers now. ♥️

I received an advance copy of the ebook from the author and am leaving an honest review.

BEST BOOK OF THE SERIES SO FAR!

Can I say I’m obsessed? Cuz I am. Jordy’s and Skye’s romance lit the world on fire. He’s very protective—he’s Skye’s literal bodyguard—and Skye is this kind of naïve young woman. She goes on a journey to discover herself and how she fits into the larger super soldier world, as the MC from Timberwolf is her older brother, Luke, and everything starts with him. So many threads from the previous books weave throughout this story, and there’s a huge reveal that blew my mind and changes the face of the game.

Get ready! Phoenix is hot.

If you haven’t read any of the previous stories in The Infinitum Series, start with book one, Code Name: Timberwolf, or better yet, start at the beginning of the beginning with the series prequel, John. That’s the novella that got me started with this author, and she just released a print version too, with exclusive formatting and art. It’s also available as an ebook if you subscribe to her newsletter on her website.

I received an ARC from the author, and this is my honest review.

OMG!!!!! Let me just start off by saying…THE plot twist in this book is spectacular!!!
😯😯😱😱👏🏼👏🏼 Wowwwww 😮 Well done to the author, I was not expecting that!! 👏🏼👏🏼

In Code Name: Phoenix, book 5 of the Infinitum Series we are taken back to the beginning of Skye & Jordy’s relationship, this is a friendship to lovers and brothers best friend trope, I loved watching Skye & Jordy throughout the years, it really made their romance in latter years even more special.
They are now my fav couple, and I can safely say that this is the BEST book of the series so far!

I was truly captivated by the storyline, the twists, turns and of-course the ongoing relationships are so addictive. We have super soldiers, superpowers, suspense, mystery and steamy romance.
Tbh I’m struggling with an in-depth review without giving away spoilers.

Now, before you all run off to get this book based on my nobel prize winning review, I must say that Code Name: Phoenix is NOT a stand-alone read, it is part of a series which needs to be read in order. Secrets are revealed in this book that would be spoilers for previous books, parts of the story does cover previous storylines too. You have been warned.

Another great story in this series which pulled together some loose ends from the previous books. It’s so clever how the characters and plots from the series weave together so seamlessly.

I really enjoyed Skye and Jordy’s story. Their chemistry was brilliant and there were even a couple of twists that I didn’t spot beforehand, which always adds to the full book immersion!

It took a very short moment before I was fully hooked and desperate to read more. I didn’t want to put it down.

Can’t wait for the next one!

I was lucky enough to receive an arc in exchange for my honest review.

This series keeps getting better!! The heat was off the charts and the storyline was amazing. So many twists and turns for this story.
This is not a standalone, so pick up Timberwolf first before diving into this series.

Superheroes are awesome, but women superheroes are 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

This was my first superhero military romance, and wowzers was it fantastic. This book is part of a series, but I’ve read it out of order and had no problem following the storyline with only a few spoilers from previous books given. So if this book intrigues you, but you haven’t read the previous books in the series, you’re good to read on.

This book is about a hunky former marine named Jordy tasked with being the personal bodyguard of Skye—the brilliant daughter of a deceased business tycoon. Jordy’s brother-like relationship with Skye’s brother Luke, and the fact he’s paid to protect his sister, is the only thing keeping him from claiming the woman he loves. Having been in love with Jordy since she was a teenager, Skye pulls out all the punches to win Jordy over. And oh my, does she make it hard for him.

Just as things are looking up for the couple, Jordy is forced to move Skye into hiding as enemies from her father’s past come for her. A terrible encounter separates these two, forcing Skye to comes to terms with who she really while Jordy fights to get back to her side.

The build up between Skye and Jordy over years had me screaming at the pages like a super fan at a sporting event when they finally come together. That slow burn had me in a panting mess, turning the pages of this book to get to the juicy bits. The suspense will have you wanting to reach into the pages of the book and set fire to all that comes between them. And the spice was melt-your-underoos intense.

If you’re looking to dip your toes in some superheroes romance or are a diehard fan of the trope, this book is the one for you.

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Jordy and Skye have been dancing around each other throughout the Infinitum series, and we finally get their story in Code Name: Phoenix, by author Laura Mowery. The tale of Jordy and Skye was well worth the wait, after I got over my mini panic attack due to what the author puts these characters through.

This story is in two parts. The first part chronicles the couple’s relationship as it ran parallel to the first four books. So having read them will make for a richer reading experience. There is a beautiful calm before the storm sequence that had me literally screaming NOOOOOO! (Yes, I was screaming, just ask the spouse, who gave me that raised eyebrow look:), when the proverbial you-know-what hits the fan. Then there is the mother of all twists, that I still have not picked my jaw up off the floor from. I am in awe of Mowery’s imagination.

This series is so hard to put into any specific category when I try to explain it to other readers. It’s romantic suspense, with military, metaphysical, sci-fi, superhero, fantasy aspects. Literally a little something for everyone. I think it’s worth mentioning again that the only thing I’ve read before that I can compare it to is Christine Feehan’s Ghostwalker series. I’m looking forward to Clay’s story next. He always makes me chuckle and comes up with the best code names. Even though the author doesn’t agree with him.

I received an E-ARC from the author, and this is my honest review.

I love a good taboo romance. There is a pretty good age gap in this, AND he's her brother's best friend, which makes the tension a million times hotter.

Skye is a bad ass all around. She's extremely intelligent and lethal when she learns about her powers. Also, she is nobody's wall flower. I LOVE how she is portrayed as a strong female lead. Jordy is a former Marine, navigating his way through civilian life. He's done a few bad things in his past, but he does everything he can to atone for those sins. Mix in the attraction and -whew!-

I've been with the Infinitum Series from the beginning and each book is unique in its own way. But this one. THIS ONE. This one had me clutching my pearls. I was so unprepared for the twists. Phoenix is definitely my favorite of the series so far.

There is SPICE. Hot, hot spice. The romance is raw and real. I can't tell you how many times I cried through this book. Five Stars!

This might be my favorite of the series!! And the series as a whole is so good. Super soldiers, mystery, suspense, hot hot men who know how to please their women. If you haven’t read the others, you definitely should as there is an overarching storyline.

This book has some of my favorite tropes (Protector! Brother’s best friend! Age gap!) and the delivery did not miss. Highly recommend!
