This was an ok book. I liked that it introduced fire safety to my 2.5 year old. We looked for the smoke detector in her room. The rest didn't really apply to her like getting in a straight line and being quiet while exiting the building. She is going to go to preschool in a month or two, so we might re-read it again then. But she doesn't quite grasp the dangers of fire in a building yet. This would probably apply more to older preschoolers and kindergartens to reinforce what the school is hopefully already teaching them.

I liked this book because it explains fire safety to children. It talks about being aware of where the smoke detectors are, as well as, being quiet when the alarm goes off so you can listen to instructions from the teacher.

Cailou and his friends enjoy visiting with a firefighter at school, then taking part in a fire drill. Pretty standard stuff, but well done. Realistic and could be used with children before they have a similar experience at school to help them prepare for the event.
