Again, wishing for half stars. I'd like to give this one 3.5, but enjoyed it enough to round up. I enjoyed the narrator's performance which I'm convinced made this a 4 star rather than a 3. I will definitely be willing to listen to others by her. She did a great job with making the male lead sound believably masculine, which IMHO is the most important and probably the hardest thing to do for a female narrator. I am not sure if the accents were correct for the area of England the H/h were from, but that didn't bother me. It sounded right and that's enough for me. However as an American and a southerner, I did catch that the accent spoken by the h's servant in Charleston was all wrong. But, it was maybe all of 5 lines in the entire book.

I love Charleston or Charlestown as it was known at the time. I could definitely get a feel for where things were taking place. It's one of my favorite vacation spots and favorite romance settings. So, that's always good and the story itself was very intriguing. I also loved the heroine.

What lost the book the 1 1/2 star was the hero. I LOVE a good vengeful hero story and was very excited to listen to this. However, the hero has to have a good reason to feel vengeful toward the heroine (even if it's all a pack of lies). I'm still not quite sure what Christian's reason was. He had taken the bribe to break the heroine's heart and he had financially ruined her father. Sounds like Jessamine had all the reasons to be vengeful.

Christian was mad at her because.... Um, I'm not really sure. He thought she may have revealed an embarrassing family secret and she couldn't deny that her brother wanted to marry her off to a man old enough to be her father. He already knew about that! The brother told him he wanted her heart broken so she'd quit being romantic and accept the match he wanted for her. The only explanation for Christian's OTT anger was insecurity, I think. He felt like he wasn't good enough for the h, so when things fell apart, he found it easier to blame her because he fell back into his pity-party 'she thinks she's better than me' attitude. Which was ridiculous, given the heroine's personality. He reminded me of a child who - when faced with an adult who is justifiably angry about his behavior - decides he'll show them and be angry right back, just because.

I also wish Christian had had to do something more to make up for being such a jerk - some groveling or making a sacrifice or something to win back the heroine's trust. The whole being paid to break her heart plotline was kind of glossed over. ...more

I got this as an Audible from the author and publisher.

I was really surprise with this book because it was nothing like the synopsis. The synopsis was only the beginning of the story and there were so much more after that that I was unaware of and it really got me unhinged.

I have to say that I was quite intrigued during the first portion of the book. And even somewhat into the second portion. Yes, it was fairly typical Regency romance, but there were some interesting little twists. And half of the story takes place in the American colonies. Jessie was a headstrong character, but she was liable enough--quite naive to be sure. I wasn't too keen on Christian, especially during the second half of the book. Kissed is one of those books that I find annoying and enjoyable at the same time. The annoying part is that the hero and heroine are really bad at communication. So there is constant misunderstanding that leads to hurt feelings and broken hearts for the characters and frustration for the reader. You've all read those kind of books. If that was all that was going on, I would have given this book 2 stars.

This is a standalone, happily ever after love story, second in the Redeemable Rogues series.

Enjoyed tremendously!

This was a truly enjoyable romance with two very stubborn people who were meant for each other. Their relationship was filled with misunderstandings and the lies of others that kept them apart for a while but true love always find a way. Definitely a thumbs up for me!

With its nomination from Romantic Times Magazine as Best Historical, it's not surprising that this book was an enthralling read from start to finish. With a setting not often depicted in books, Kissed sets itself apart from other historical reads and keeps you immersed in its emotional ups and downs and guessing until the final page due to its numerous twists and turns.

Upon first being introduced to Christian it's hard to see him as the hero. Upon first being introduced to Christian it's hard to see him as the hero. There's a request to hire him and have him turn on the woman he's professed to love in the past. From this moment on the road to redemption and a HEA is going to be a rocky one with the line between good and bad a finely drawn one. Christian is a dark character who's been through a lot of emotional turmoil courtesy of a jealous sibling. He's not always done the right thing but upon seeing his lost love Jessie again he wants desperately to be a better man and if anyone can help him do that it's Jessie.

Jessie too has a sibling who will do anything to get what he wants, and what he wants is for her to marry a man of his choosing. She's still in love with Christian though, no matter how hurt she was over their separation she still longs to be with him. She's shed copious amounts of tears over him in the past and will shed more as the story progresses. While I applaud her loyalty there were times I became frustrated by her weepiness and desperately wanted her to get a stronger backbone in regards to the actions done to her. Her undying love and support though is what Christian needs to pull him out of the darkness towards a hard fought but immensely satisfying HEA.

Their times together reek of sexual tension. There's always a sense of foreboding as well, especially with so many and so much going against them which makes their sexual interludes all the more satisfying. Along with a satisfying romance comes numerous twists and turns where no one is as they appear. This keeps you on the edge of your seat guessing until the end while rooting for Christian and Jessie every step of the way. The secondary characters leave a lasting impression as well as their actions add another layer of twists and turns to an already emotionally draining story. From beginning to end Ms. Crosby has created a story with all the elements romance readers have come to expect from her and Kissed is yet another winner in her already long list of successes. ...more

I absolutely love reading a real good Avon romance! You get the high romance, the willful heroine and the rogue hero who lusts after the woman but finds himself honoring her as well. I love that, and Kissed was perfect example of this. Perfect Historical Romance plot of a virgin, courting gone wrong and a pirate who can't keep his hands of the woman he once lost. Add in the pudgy villain, and we have the perfect scene set for enjoyable Historical Romance!

Gimme a tall, dark and handsome pirate wi I absolutely love reading a real good Avon romance! It's been too long since I read one of these and I was awesome to go back to the bodice rippers. ;) Though if I recall right there wasn't and actual bodice ripped but you get the drift, right?

I loved the title Kissed because it so embodied the book, as we are talking Historical Romance there wasn't premarital sex or even heavy petting so it all starts with a kiss, the romance, the lust, the falling in love. Crosby sure described it perfectly and the kissing kept escalating to more and more intensity until it just had to evolve to touching and that my friends was a hot read!

I truly enjoyed Jessamine's character, she was tough, determined and little bit naive about what happened when it came to lust and a man's reaction to her - which cast Christian to even greater light when he had to bite his lip to not act out of society standards and that made their romance such a fun one to read. Of course when the story developed we got to see Jessamine's scorn of Christian even though she still loved him, she almost slipped so many times with her inability to resist his kiss, priceless. Absolutely love this in a romance novel!

I liked the Kindle cover makeover, it doesn't show much more than something going on in the back alley though, I would have loved a more play with his pirate ways, perhaps a ship and her bit more resistant to her embrace for the cover to really have the book's feel. Or if to go with the couple then there should have a been an estate on the background from the first part of the book for it to click. Gorgeous colors though! ...more

Christian's plans are scuppered when he meets Jessamine, her innocence and pure heart reach through his defences and he can't hurt her. I loved the time when Christian was 'courting' Jessie, before she find out why he's actually there. They have a very sweet romance developing, it's light with moments of humour, but all the while Christian is battling himself.

Of course, it can't last. Semi-truths, lies and circumstances thrust them apart. A hurt and ruined Jessie is sent to Charlestown, to stay with her Uncle.
It's not long before Jessie and Christian are thrust back together and emotions are high.
They both have rather negative views of the other, but the sexual chemistry between them is as explosive as ever.
I felt Jessie's pain so much, she still loves Christian despite his betrayal. She doesn't want him to know though, and makes sure she uses every opportunity to assure him of her indifference.

I'll try not to give too much away, but events occur that means that Christian and Jessie are in close proximity for an extended period of time. There's danger, and intrigue and the stakes are raised when a jealous rival seeks to ruin Christian.

I loved how Jessie's steadfast love and eventually, her renewed trust had the ability to bring Christian out of his darkness. There were so many obstacles between them, and so many misunderstandings that it was a HEA that was hard fought for. You'll find yourself crying with Jessie, and urging them to their wonderfully rewarding happy ending.
I'm looking forward to reading more from Tanya Anne Crosby!

This is a well written novel about a young girl who fell in love with her betrothed and would never accept another no matter how advantageous the marriage would be. I have read all of Ms. Crosby's highland books and LOVED every single one. While waiting for the next Guardian book to come out, I decided to give her back list a try. I found this book via a book bub recommendation.

I just really couldn't get into this story. Christian is a bastard (literally... the result of an extramarital affair), but the general public doesn't know it. I just read Kissed, written by Tanya Anne Crosby, part 4 of the FOUR IRRESISTIBLE ROGUES. I have read two Scottish romances of this author and loved them very much. I was a bit disappointed with this one, I can't explain why. I liked her characters Christian and Jessamine. It is well written, but it is not her best one!
That is why, I give her book 4 stars. I am looking forward to read her latest books instead.

This was a delightful romance between two strong-willed and prideful people - Jessamine "Jessie" and Christian "Hawk". You will be swept back in time when true love paid no part in marriage pacts. Recommends it for: curious souls

I am not a fan of the genre, but having made friends with the lovely and charming Ms. Crosby, I accepted an autographed copy and sat down for the drudgery of reading it.

I was pleasantly surprised. Crisp, flowing writing, well written, if familiar, characters, and a gift for pacing set this award-winning romance novelist apart from the pack (at least as I would imagine the pack).

Tanya wrote a Wonderful Story with Adventure, Danger & Romance which I truly enjoyed reading.

Great story
