The Lone Ranger: Behind the Mask

Rate this book
Bringing The Long Ranger to the big screen was an epic odyssey for all involved, plagued by freak weather conditions, unforgiving terrain, and a never-ending stream of logistical nightmares. Nevertheless, the hardy crew, led by director Gore Verbinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer - both veterans of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies - persevered to deliver a hugely ambitious and breathlessly entertaining blockbuster that defies all expectations. The Lone Ranger: Behind the Mask tells the gripping story of this fraught yet fulfilling journey and the people who made it happen, from stars Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp, to the costumes designers, makeup artists, production designers, and other key crew members. Taking in the dust-blown sets in Albuquerque, the epic vistas of Monument Valley, and the sound stages of Los Angeles, this is the complete story of a truly epic production augmented by stunning photography and concept art, along with candid snapshots from the crew. Also featuring afterwords by Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer, an introduction by Gore Verbinski, and a special photo foreword from Jerry Bruckheimer, The Lone Ranger: Behind the Mask is the ultimate companion to the most exciting film of 2013.

The Lone Ranger: Behind the Mask is a very well done film companion book.

The book's a 168-page hardcover. The page layout is wonderful. Photos are beautiful, shot in high resolution and used huge throughout.

Included are lots of photos. You get to see the set, behind the scene, props, costumes, make up and of course the characters. There's also plenty to read on the film production, casting, staging scenes, set decoration, production design, making up, training horses, and shooting in the wilderness of New Mexico.

Highly recommended if you're a fan of the film.

$45 vanity project devoted to a lousy movie. the two dollars i paid for it was worth the pages on the costume design. would have been much better if striped down to an entertainment weekly article.

What I found most interesting about this book was how Woodrow Wilson apparently didn't seek outside suggestions/opinions. The next interesting item were the behind the scenes "deals" between various nations. Lastly the unreal Espionage Act of 1917 & the Sedition Act of 1918.
