I'm loving this series. It is kinda the right timing. When you've been reading serial killer books and binge-watching Dexter for the past month, you can get a little teeny bit dark. I'm going to start listening to Marilyn Manson and buy a dog collar for myself if I keep this up.

To prevent this major fashion disaster, I needed a hilarious series in my life, and this one is delivering.

We have Glady, our lovable friend who would totally fit in with most of us. She wants to eat all of the things tha

Gladie Burger is a match maker in training. Some call her family witches, but her family believes they just have an extra sensory ability. In her eccentric ways, Grandma Zelda tries to help guide Gladie down the right path to the perfect matches.

Trouble is never in short supply in Gladie's home town and it seems Gladie finds her way into the center of it all. The town has been over run with an alien worshipping cult, creating havoc and alarming the towns folk. The sheriff has gotten himself into

I've read this book without reading the first one of the series (I know, shame on me...) I probably would have understand better (or quicker) the situation about this crazy town (assaulted by a cult about aliens) and also the part about "the gift" of Gladie and her grandmother Zelda.

It was a fun read, full of laughs but also with mystery and suspense!

The book turns around Gladie and it seems that there is always a thing happening. I think that book was

This is a kooky town filled with kooky characters. Gladie gets tricked into seeing the dentist and while under, he is killed. Gladie is trying to find a match for the receptionist (who also wants her to help clear her with the police), dealing with the handsome, mysterious neighbor Holden and the police chief who is hiding from half the ladies in town.

It is similar to Stephanie Plum, but without the explosions and this grandmother never leaves the house. But she has plenty of friends around to h

MATCHPOINT Caught Between a Man Of Mystery and a Horn Dog

Original Post: http://fangswandsandfairydust.blogspo...

I enjoyed MATCHPOINT, the second book in Elise Sax's Matchmaker series more than the first (AN AFFAIR TO DISMEMBER). The writing is tighter and more directed, the characters are also better developed. In the Is-it-Hot-in -Here-or-Do-I-Need-A-Cold-Drink department: The kettles on, but the water never quite gets up to boiling in the steamy romance department; it gets warm but no one get
This is the second book in the Matchmaker Series by Elise Sax. I was lucky enough to be able to immediately read this one after reading An Affair to Dismember, the first book in the series. I went into this book with extremely high expectations, and am happy to say that not only did Ms. Sax meet them, she exceeded them.

Matchpoint starts about a month after the end of An Affair to Dismember. Gladie is sitting in Bird Gonzalez's beauticians chair, getting talked into having the Ecuadoran Erect app

Matchpoint by Elise Sax is the second book in her Matchmaker Series. Gladie Burger is back and the continuing story just keeps getting better. The story picks less than a mother after An Affair to Dismember ended and brings back all your favorite characters from the first book adding more and more laughs. Thankfully we still get to hear about Cannes, California’s sexy police chief, Spencer, who just can’t seem to stay away from Gladie and Holden, her even sexier neighbor who can’t keep his hands ...more

I would have to say that this is easily the most spastic book I have personally EVER read! It's here, it's there, and at the end I was left dazed and confused--reeling and wondering what just happened here. Highlights include: a dentist being murdered, his face cut off (yes, you read that correctly!), and left in his own chair. Then he falls onto our heroine who is bloodied, subjected to police car sex by crazy people, and peed on by neighborhood boys. All in all, I just have to PASS!! ...more

I sympathize with Gladie, I don’t like going to the dentist either! But Matchpoint is about way more than a bloody clever way to avoid getting your teeth drilled.

Gladys Burger is California’s answer to Stephanie Plum. And so far (this is Gladie’s second case) it’s a damn good answer. Because Gladie seems to be making up her mind about a few things. And her zany relatives are both fewer in number and considerably on the sane side of the fence.

Gladie’s back and her life is crazier than ever. She’s still struggling with becoming a matchmaker like her Grandma, but she’s giving it all she has and she’s determined to match up her latest client, the receptionist at the local dentist’s office, because she spent all her money on a hair straightening treatment and now her cell phone bill is overdue. Yup, it’s just another day in the life of Gladie. But when the dentist is killed during Gl

Ever since she moved to her grandmother's house, Gladie Burger's life has never been boring. She lives next to a very gorgeous guy, one she dates on occasion, and has been unwillingly privy to a murder. Since then, she's done her best to cope with the incident, and is looking forward to the rest of her life. So much so, that she's agreed to an unwanted, yet oddly welcome, makeover from the local hairdresser.

In Gladie's mind, it'll help her feel a tad better about things in general. After all, sh

I have now had the opportunity to read both of the books in the Matchmakers series by Elise Sax. The second book Matchpoint kept me just as enthralled as the first, An Affair to Dismember. Ms. Sax has a great way of telling a good mystery as well as a very humorous story. I was not only in suspense wondering who exactly had killed Dr. Dulur but I also found myself laughing a lot during this book.

I really like Gladie, that girl can get her self in to some really sticky situations but has so far b

Gladie the matchmaker is mixed up in murder again. A trip to the dentist ends up with her gassed to the gills, the dentist faceless and Gladie’s first real client as number one suspect. Now Gladie not only needs to find her a match she needs to keep her out of jail too. The men in her life, hunky Holden next door and sexy Sheriff Spencer, don’t agree on much but they agree that Gladie shouldn’t be investigating the dentists murder. The murderer agrees with them as well and if they don’t find him ...more

This book was like a jump in the World of Crazy.

The heroine of the book is technically a matchmaker, but....
Crime follows her everywhere she goes.

She goes to a client, who is a dentist, and then faints to the sight of blood in the hands of one of the dentists in the room who takes advantage of the fact that she is unconscious to examine her mouth.

Later on the day the chief of the local police hides in her house beca

I "Found" Elise Sax in April of this year when I accidentally came upon her first book, An Affair to Dismember at Walmart, no less. I have been hooked ever since. I just finished reading the second book in the series, Matchpoint, and yes, it lives up to and surpasses the hype!
This author knows how to grab you from the first page and not let you go even after you've finished the book. She writes hilariously bizarre characters in hilariously freakish situations and you just can't put the darn book

I am unsure as to what exactly this book was about. Is it about her being a matchmaker or a wanna be private eye? It seemed like it went back and forth between the two during the course of this book.

I think that this is the second book in the series, at least I hope so because if it wasn’t then there was a lot that the author left out in the open. Gladie’s character seemed to not be complete in my opinion. I was left wanting more from her during the course of the book. She just felt incomplete

No sophomore slump for Elise Sax! This follow-up is just as fresh and funny as her debut An Affair To Dismember. The series features Gladie Burger, budding professional matchmaker under her grandmother's tutelage. While Gladie struggles with learning the love biz, she's also dealing with the attentions of not one, but two sexy guys (her mysterious next door neighbor and the town's randy police chief). As if that weren't enough, she finds herself literally in the middle of a murder scene - during ...more

This is the second book in the Matchmaker series and boy was it jam packed full of wackiness! We finally get a bit more info on the mysterious hunky Holden from next door, plus we learn a bit more about Gladie's other love interest, the magic penis man himself - Chief of Police Spencer. (How lucky can a spunky girl with frizzy hair get?!) The mystery kept me guessing until about the middle (although I suspected the correct villian from the beginning but that's because I'm thoroughly jaded at thi ...more
I squeed out loud when I got the okay to download this book from NetGalley. I love, love, loved the first book in the series and the second did not disappoint.
Gladys (Gladie) is still in Cannes, California working with her Grandmother Zelda as a matchmaker. This time, she's trying to help the receptionist at Bliss Dental find her true love. However, when Gladie goes in for a late night filling, what she finds is a very dead dentist.

In this second book in the series, Gladie continues to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. This time she is out cold in the dentist's chair when said dentist is killed and has his face removed. I know, gross. And the town has been invaded by alien worshippers who are convinced the alien apocalyse is right around the corner and happening right on the town's mountain. Much confused hilarity ensues.

If you like a lttle mystery and humor with your chick lit you must give this series a try. The t

This book can only be described as a zany comedy. It took me a while to get used to the writing style. It read more like a slapstick comedy script full of one liners and improbably situations than a book. That being said, I couldn't help but keep reading to see what would happen next. A comedic who-done-it with a light romance thrown in. This style of writing is not my favorite but I am sure other

I love these characters so much because they provide so much throughout the novel. Yet again, Gladie is caught with another murder in town. She is stuck again by finding out who the killer. We get to see the gorgeous neighbor, Holden again. He is hot for her that you will find your self saying "hot dam". Gladie does find some truth of Holden past that makes her want him even more. Also, Gladie gets stuck with the cocky officer, Spencer. This book has it all that it will make you laugh, cry, hot ...more

I loved this book! Gladie's adventures in Cannes had me in stitches. Spenser's hiding in her bedroom, Holden is hugging her at every opportunity, and she has a very unfortunate encounter with a suspicious dentist. And then, of course, there is the alien-loving cult that has invaded town. Through it all, Gladie not only manages to solve a murder, but make a match as well. Excellent! ...more
