Super short, but if you don't know if this series is for you, this would be a great way to decide. She captures the feeling of the whole series in short story format. I'm excited to read more of the series!

As the introduction to a new series it was a pretty good book, packed with stereotypes and action. The book is about an FBI agent that is after a famous hacker, known for stealing from big, corrupt, corporations and giving the money to different charities, and keeping a small percentage.

The story is interesting and the characters, even if they are walking cliches, are good, and make you want to read more about them.

I read Encrypted many months ago and figured it was time to give the rest of the books in the series a try. The prequel, Hacked, definitely worked better as a short story than anything longer as it failed to impress. While the premise was sound and it gave a little bit of discovery from the FBI agent about the Robin Hood Hacker, I just don't think it was enough. It had action and implausible getaways, but I found that it didn't go back far enough; it was just another robbery by the hackers. Instead of being it's own book it could have been a prologue to Encrypted as it doesn't really add anything to the pre-development of the characters. I was hoping it went back even further to how Quirk and Ronnie started working together or how Zach ended up working on the case. It was just another crime where he was close to catching the Robin Hood Hacker, and not much more than that. Still a good short, but just not enough.

Enjoyed the whole series. Fun read and liked the interaction between the Robin Hood hacker, her assistant and the big FBI guy sworn to take her down, ( love interest, twitter pated and unconsummated) this short story set the relationship between them and answers a few questions left in my head since reading the book encrypted first. I did ignore the vast amount of typos throughout. Proof reading should spend a bit more time. Auto correct like my IPad changes words or accepts ones spelled correctly but is not the right word. A few sentences were so messed up I couldn't get the gist of it. Despite this flaw of this Indie writer, I like her work and can handle wait for the next installment.

This short story frustrated me. I didn't like the good guy FBI agent and the bad guy hackers were only mildly better. The book had enough formatting errors, primarily words jammed together, that I noticed. FBI agents are issued automatics, they don't go click, click when empty, the slide locks back. There were more things like that that just seemed out of place

The core problem is that it didn't want to make read another book in the series.

I read Encrypted prior to reading this book, but I still found the prequel a good introduction to the characters and how they started their cat and mouse chase. The story was not very compelling, but enough to hold one's attention. With this book completed, I am now ready to start the sequel to Encrypted. I am very much looking forward to this next book in the series! McCray fills her books with enough action and techno-toys to keep one fully engaged.

Hacked is the prequel to Carolyn McCray's Robin Hood Hacker Techno-Thriller series and to put it bluntly she's done it again! I was immediately drawn into the story and will be starting "Encrypted" next. I'm a big fan of her "Betrayed " series and I'm so glad to have another series to meet new characters, learn new things, and all with the thrills and action I love in her books. Thank you Carolyn McCray for sharing your amazing talent with this humble reader!

That was surprisingly entertaining for a short story. FBI agent tries to catch a hacker who physically broke into the server room of a company to hack into accounts and transfer money for mostly a good cause (hence "Robin Hood Hacker"). Has some James Bond action, and the FBI agent is surprised to find out at the end that the hacker is a woman. I am surprised how athletic the woman is for someone described as eating too many Twinkies and not working out, but the gadgets she uses are fun.

Really liked the hacker. Didn't care for the FBI guy; he seemed very bland. Warp was quite interesting. Wish I could figure out who is the main character of this series, because if it is Zach...I'll pass. Liked the action and adventure. It might be quick paced and unrealistic (comparable to Laura Croft) but it is quite entertaining.

I actually read this after Encrypted, but it was nice to understand how the relationship between the Robin Hood Hacker and her FBI pursuer started out. Being a bridge story, this was a very quick read, but it really helps to develop the relationships between the characters and was a quick fun read.

This is the prequel to the beginning of the Robin Hood Hacker series. In this short introduction story, we learn of Ronnie, Quirk, Warp and Zach. We learn some back story to Zach and his relationship with his mom and fiance. We also learn how he is hell bent on catching the Robin Hood Hacker. Excellent short story to warm you up to the big book that follows...Encrypted.

A fast paced novella / short story which introduces you to the lead character and her profile.

There are 4 characters in the story and it was an interesting read. I will surely read the other books and full length novels in the series ...

If the novels are as fast paced as the short; it will surely be a fun and exciting high octane action packed read ...

I read "Encrypted" (The first in the Robin Hood Hacker series) back in 2013. I rated it a 3/5.
I have rated this one higher, mainly because it is shorter.
The plot line of hacker breaking into a company to steal millions/billions and almost getting caught, lends itself well to a short story, just like this one.

The action is fine, but the errors are excessive. 9 in a short story when 3 in a full length novel is barely acceptable, pull this short story back and edit it. For a list of the errors I found contact me at amacd55 (at) gmail (dot) com. Properly proofed this would have been a 5 star story.

Not a book, but it is in the database. I was in the market for an entertaining distraction and this teaser promises that the first book in the series is exactly what I was looking for. We'll see if the promise holds.

A very good prequel. Entertaining and exciting. :) the writing was decent & it gave us a small glimpse into this world & its characters. & mostly, made me want to read the rest of the series, which is pretty much its job.

Recommended for fans of science fiction, Robin Hood, and thrillers.

For a short story this book packed a lot of action and was a very good prequel to the Robin Hood hacker series. I now understand why the FBI agent is so determined to bring in the Robin Hood hacker.

Nice short story starting off the compilation. For a free book on Amazon it was enjoyable. One continuity gaff that was extremely flagrant, which is why it doesn't get a higher rating.
