Wow! That is the first thing that came to mind all through this psychological thriller. The premise of the book is how we react when under duress of the fight or flight response. Dana and her boyfriend Jackson decide that they want to get out of the dump that they are currently living in, with a not too friendly landlady. They find what they think is a paradise in the country, where they will both be able to work on their businesses of carpentry for Jackson, and airbrushing on motorcycles etc fo ...more

Before I write my review, I feel I should state that I know the author personally. In fact he has encouraged me to start writing and hopefully in due course you may see my first novel on these pages.

Rule 14 is a short book, but a compelling one. I read it in about a day, so it is definitely a page-turner.

Only made it about two thirds of the way in. The protagonists, the ones you're supposed to at least sympathize with, quickly become unreasonable and extremely unlikeable. Less than a week after moving in they start showing clear signs of mental instability and anger issues. Yes, the landlords are crazy and aweful, but they instigate situations in ways any sane person would look at as a bad idea. The author should have allowed more time to pass to make it more "Crazy landlords" and less "A bunch ...more
