I was sent an advanced review copy of this novel by the author.

Susan Buchanan's second novel will appeal to anyone who would like a nice, jolly, easy read about a woman who signs up with a dating agency and all the men she meets through this.

The novel centres round not only Gill's dates but also the relationship she has with her three best girlfriends - there's plenty of 'girly' stuff to identify with! In one part of the story she feels let down by someone with whom she had hoped to have a deepe

I received an advance copy of The Dating Game by Susan Buchanan in exchange for an honest review.

Gill McFadden has a problem. Although she's achieved great success in her professional life (Owning one's own recruitment firm at the relatively young age of 37 is quite an accomplishment!), her personal life is a bust. Much to her friends' chagrin, Gill's so engrossed in her job that she barely has time to think about dating. But she knows there's something missing in her life and she wants to find

Firstly I’d like to thank the author (@Susan_Buchanan on Twitter) for sending me an ARC to read and give an honest review. The Dating Game is Susan’s second book.

I love the colour of this cover (it matches my blog theme beautifully) and the design which fits in so well with the story. Once I began reading I got a real sense of fun and realness from it, Gill had some great friends who reminded me of friends in my own life and I loved the banter between them all.

Gill’s dating history was varied an

I was lucky enough to receive an advance review copy of The Dating Game from the author.

The book centres around the main character Gill who is a busy recruitment consultant with her own business in Glasgow. Setting out to find herself a man after a few failed relationships she stumbles upon a dating agency who aims to set her up with like-minded men. The book follows Gill's experiences playing The Dating Game. She encounters various characters and discovers she has trouble trying to keep up with

Gill is dizzy in love...

You would think someone who runs her own recruitment agency is capable of sorting out her love life effectively - wouldn't you? When it comes to love, Gill is dizzy. Ms Buchanan does a great job of portraying the conflicting traits of strength and weakness in the fabulous character whose dating experiences will make you laugh out aloud! Will the Happy Ever After dating agency succeed in finding Gill the man of her dreams, especially when the one she thinks might actually

You'll love "traveling" through this book! There's so much to like here, it's hard to know where to start. Well-developed characters, beautifully described settings. I loved Gill's antics with her pals and her romantic escapades made me miss the dating scene--the adventure of it all. Discovering new people and places, the way new people can affect you. Even the at-the-time mortifying but now-hilarious bad dates! Buchanan nicely captures that world. And speaking of capturing worlds, I have never ...more

I have to be brutally honest and admit I thought this book may be a bit too "girlie" for me but hell no!! I loved the settings of Glasgow and Barcelona and loved the "real" characters. This is a must ladies :)! ...more

Dating has never been this variegated and fun, thanks to Susan Buchanan. It's the one book that would get you back in the game!

For Gill it's all about work. More work. Much more work. Running her own recruitment agency, her only social life might just be meeting with the girls for drinks. No time in her schedule for herself. No time for her parents. No time for Dating.

Mundane. In one word that's how you would describe her life (unless, her life it's a carbon copy of yours then you'd get touchy)

Let me just say that I had always been curious how dating services worked. The last book I've read about an upscale dating service was Champagne For Two by Patrice Wilton. With Susan Buchanan's book, I finally learned more about it.

Gill McFadden had been unlucky in love. So her friends tried to help her find the one. But even her matchmaker pals' attempt with blind dates were major fails. Then she found herself signing up for a dating services named Happy Ever After. Soon, a string of gorgeous m

Gill McFadden was fed up. How come her friends ended up with guys they really loved and she didn't? (Chap 2).

Good question! Gill is an intelligent career women in her late thirties with a wonderful, dry sense of humor that readers will love - a perfect match for a novel about a dating service for successful people. She owns her own company (quite an accomplishment) and has just about everything else settled except companionship from a meaningful relationship. Enter the Happy Ever After dating ag

The Dating Game is a wonderful contemporary novel. From the title you know it will be about dating, Gill needs to get a social life and find a man to share it with, a workaholic Gill has been busy setting up her own recruitment agency in Glasgow and putting in long hours to make it a success. She wants more from life than just work, so she makes a bold move to join a dating agency.

Too busy to find the right one, too busy to love, but desperately longing to be loved. That’s so modern day story. Gill is too tired of being lonely, so when a bus with an advertising logo passes in front of her, she makes the decision. She visits Happy Ever After dating agency. And they set her up with couple of dates. What choice will she make? Who will she choose?

After reading Sign of Times, I fell in love with Susan Buchanan’s writing

This is perhaps a book about today's society, about todays women in it and how love is perhaps not an easy thing to find.

Gill has not been very lucky in love, but she has channeled her excess energy into creating a recruitment agency and has been single-handedly running it for many months. However, she is becoming wistful and now needs something else in her life. She wants to have that wonderful feeling of being in love.

She needs to get back into the dating game.

Set in Glasgow, Gill joins a dati

I won a copy of this book on the author's blog, and I was delighted as it had been on my to read list for some time.

Gill is a successful businesswoman, but can't seem to find a suitable partner. She decides to join a professional dating agency in the hopes of finding her perfect man. She goes on a series of dates with eligible bachelors, with some hilarious consequences!

I liked Gill from the start. She seemed like a friend, and as the story progressed I really felt like I got to know her. He

I really enjoyed this book, although I did feel constantly hungry reading it!

A career girl with a run of bad luck with boyfriends, Gill is on the look-out for a new man when she joins a dating agency. Unsure whether it is the right thing to do, Gill consults her best friends throughout the book – a great supporting cast – as she looks for love. Buchanan has a fabulous knack for description and scene-setting, and I particularly loved her cultural depiction of Barcelona and her capacity to bring t

Gill is single, her friends desperately try to set her up but all they succeed in doing is provide a string of disasters. In a final attempt to meet someone special she joins an exclusive dating agency.

The Dating Game follows Gill through the numerous dates and men that she meets. I loved the various meetings with all her friends. The author manages to convey such warmth between them and it is a pleasure to read these as her friends comfort her, make fun of her and are always there for her.

This is my first book by Susan but it won't be my last. She has a way of writing that captures you from the first page till the last. I liked most of the characters apart from Charlie who I found sneaky. Gill was a lovely lead character and loved hearing about what happened in her job and in her love life. I liked the idea of the dating site and this is what drew me to the book to begin with. I had hoped for a different ending but was still pleased with it. It was mostly set in Glasgow and found ...more

I was a little disappointed in The Dating Game by Susan Buchanan. Having previously read her work I had higher expectations of this book.

The central section of the book relays a weekend trip by four girlfriends to Barcelona, the amount of detailed information about Barcelona made it feel more like a tourist guide book rather than an actual story - consisting of bars, restaurants and places to visit - for me, that section was too long. Once the girls return to Scotland the story gets back on tra

A perfect holiday read, I finished this book in a day while soaking up some sun in Tenerife (so loved the Spanish flavour in the book.)

The books central character Gill is older than me but I could still relate to her. The highs and lows of her dating exploits remind me of my own similar experiences and makes me glad I'm in a relationship!

All in all a great read and who doesn't love a happy but unexpected ending!

Well done Sooz xx

This is a funny book with some great one liners. I really enjoyed the heroine--I'm sure many women will relate to her struggles in the dating world while balancing a career. The only thing that prevents me from giving it a five star is that there were times when I skimmed--which always feels like a let down. But it is funny. If you want a fun, lighthearted read, then give this a try. I will definitely look for more from this author in the future. ...more

This is a delicious summary of every perfect and nightmare date a girl has ever been on. Susan Buchanan’s writing is full of energy and humour. Her characters ring true, especially the awful ones. The main protagonist, Gill McFadden is sympathetic and believable; the reader is drawn into her story and I really wanted her to succeed in finding the right man. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

I very much enjoyed this book. It was simple with no dubious plots. The main character was strong all through the story and the 'rest of the cast' were believable and humorous. I enjoyed the chick lit novel The Dating Game by Susan Buchanan. The writing style is clever and fun and relatable. Gill is a workaholic and in her late thirties. I connected with her and her singleness. I admired that she decided to take some steps and make changes in her life for the chance at a committed relationship. Also, the European setting of the story made me feel like I was on holiday in Glasgow an
