I’m always thrilled to find a new Highlander book, so I had high hopes for this one. I thought the plot was an interesting one with a twist I had not seen before. Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the two main characters themselves.

My favorite couples in Highlander romances consist of a strong, alpha man and a strong, independent woman. I realize the entire Highland cannot consist of lairds, but these are romances, so I get to choose what I love.

Rob is the bastard son of the former laird and

At the Highlander’s Mercy

This series is now into the second generation or the children of the characters in the first few books. The children are now all grown up. This book is about Lilidh MacLerie, daughter of Connor and Jocelyn who were the main characters in the first book of the series. Connor is an earl and the powerful chief and laird of the Clan MacLerie.

It starts off with Lilidh writing a letter to her parents to ask permission to come home after her husband’s death. She was only marrie

I liked the unique fact that the female lead had a scar which impacted on her self-confidence, as it made her very relatable. I did feel though that this book went on a bit too long and I didn't bother reading the epilogue. I didn't like having so many first-person narratives as I felt it took away from the love story between the two characters. At times I didn't feel that we needed to cut away to the other narratives and felt a bit frustrated. These additional narratives felt like they were exp ...more

I read this book 2x just to get different perceptives.

I love heroine Lilidh. She is kind, generous but not spoil brat. She loved Robert (hero) even though he was illegitimate son. She did not care about his wealth. Robert came in Maclerie's land to train under her father Connor's guidance who was a great warrior. When Robert asked Connor for his blessing to marry Lilidh, he got refused. Robert humiliate her and broke her heart.

Their path crossed again. Robert got a chance to stand up for her

Cute story, but it doesn't suit me very well.
Historical novels set in the Highlands are one of my favorite story and Terri Brisbin wrote many books of this kind, including the series of MacLerie, from which originated this story, as a sequel to the original series, since the protagonist Lilith MacLarie is the daughter of the couple that gave the series.
Lilith is a young widow who is kidnapped by Symon, a member of a Clan, the Matheson, who should be allies with the MacLerie, the girl's family.

This is a reread as I realized I forgot do the review when I originally got read this book last year. I have been reading books by Terri Brisbin for years, as to say I just love them is an understatement!Ms. Brisbin is one of those few brilliant writers that really pays attention to detail and really make her characters come to life in her story telling. I never want her books to end, as I can never seem to put them down and finish her books in one or two sittings. Of course this book was no dif ...more

I had really hoped to like this book. However, unfortunately, it was rather underwhelming.

I really liked the idea of the book. And, let's be honest, highlanders are always a fun read. But, this book fell short of my expectations.

Lilidh was a weak character. The only time I saw her being strong was while she was being captured, when she fought her attackers. After that, she lost any spark she had at first. She was ver

Not a bad story and I love the highlanders usually it only seemed to me that there was not so much chemistry between the couple; they had a lot of problems but she immediatly forgives him twice, even before knowing it was all a misunderstandig etc.etc. I would have liked the heroine to be a little bit strongere and the political problem in the book not so much because they take away more or less half of the book.

Non una brutta storia e io di solito amo gli Highlander, soltanto che non mi sembrav

I really like to read Terri Brisbin's books and thought this one would be great. This one did not make it to my top reads. I've read a lot of Highlander romances but the characters were not to my liking. The heroine was Lilidh who did not portray very much feisty spirit throughout the book. she fought at the start, but lagged afterwards.
The hero was Robert and he was short on leadership and was wishy washy.
I liked the plot but the characters really did not endear me to them.

1.5 Stars at best. For me this was the epitome of fluff. Writing was okay but tended to ramble on inconsequential details. Important details seemed skimpy. I was half way through before I realized that Lilidh had a crippled leg and it wasn't caused by the kidnapping. It took me quite a while to get through, and I only made it because I reached my personal limit for DNF's this year. Which is sad enough. This was one of those stories where the author gave more thought to creating angst than solid ...more

Thoroughly disgusted with this book. The first half of the book was so BORING. Lilidh is kidnapped by Rob's cousin Symon, and then she sits in Rob's chamber for the entire time, except when he orders to slave away in the kitchen while being injured, exhausted and starving. They consummate their reunion half-way through the book, and then everything falls apart after that. Rob and her father both turn into total jerks with no honor or love towards Lilidh. They act totally out for their own egos a ...more

At the Highlander's Mercy is book 6 in the Maclerie Clan series and upholds the quality Terri Brisbin's audience has come to expect from her work. The story of Rob and Lilidh is a highland kidnap scenario but resonates with it's own distinctive delivery. What really struck me in addition to a quality book filled with passion, intrigue and interesting characters is the authors ability to continue the story of central characters from previous books and yet not detract from the focus of the story a ...more

Maybe I just love Terri Brisbin, but I'm tempted to give this installment five stars as well! The main characters both appealed to me, and the packing felt perfect. I actually cried at the pivotal moment. Granted, I'm pregnant, but romance novels don't generally tug my heart strings like this one did! Loved it. (Only a few imperfections like typos and a bit of predictability stand between "At the Highlander's Mercy" and a five-star review.)

Set in historical Scotland this is the tale of Lildb and Rob.
Lildb is the daughter of a powerful chieftain so taking her hostage is a really bad idea, never mind the fact that Rob and Lildb were once betrothed to one another!
A wonderful story of love and lost opportunities.

I could smell the ending a mile away! What reader wants to know exactly what happens before they even get 4 chapters in? Not this reader, that's for sure! I like a good highlander book, but this one didn't do it for me.

it was ok. I liked the H and h. but her family was a little annoying to me. i'm glad Symon was happy at the end since his sister was crazy. i might read more in this series.

Loved the story of Rob and Lilidh. The Laird Rob fostered under extends the lessons perhaps a bit too well to Rob 's life when his daughter is concerned.
