If your kid is 7-10, likes baseball and improbable magical burping, this is their book.

George's 4th grade baseball team wants to win the championship against the Klockermeister Kangaroos. George's problem--the extra player on the team--is George's super burp, an uncontrollable burp that takes over George's body and makes him do ridiculous things. It's definitely not going to help their team win. And then Chris wants to work on his art project rather than practice football and Sage, his replacement, doesn't want to do much other than make googly eyes at George. Lots of 2nd - 3rd grade angst, anger, and finally, problem solving.
2nd grade reader up to about 3rd or 4th grade. More oriented toward boys but some girls will enjoy it, too.

The book is about a bunch of baseball games played by George and his friends.
They were trying to win baseball games to win a sculpture of their team's mascot. George broke the sculpture but then he fixed it with a piece of a.b.c. gum.
Mrs. Kelly kept falling on her bum while dancing with George. This part was good because it was funny. At the end of the story the Sea Monkeys won the championship.
This is a fantastic book and i would recommend it. ~Garren~

I found this book while looking for books for boys, especially reluctant readers. At the third grade level, it will fit the needs of good second grade readers as well as struggling fourth and fifth graders. George has a magical burp that makes him lose control of his body when it happens. A funny book with a protagonist who has magical burps? What could be better?
