The most insta of all instalove ever written but it was so sweet and cute and pure I can’t be mad about it

Yeah, this one was pretty bad. Oh, man. 😄 I’m not rating it because I wouldn’t know how, it wouldn't be good. Maybe I should rate it. It’s such a far cry from the first book, which I really enjoyed, but this was a letdown.
Part of the story takes place on Krase and even brings in a Krase warrior, but it was pointless, it didn't lead anywhere.
🟣 A Finoc trooper (another planet, comes to Krase to buy a slave) / a human slave (all we know is he's an accountant who likes to scuba dive)
🟢 Both gay
🟡 Both the same size, tall, muscular, both very good looking
🔵 I'm guessing they're pretty much the same age, the human guy is 32
🟠 Same formula for the story, only a bit more cheesy and off-putting
🟣 What's with the cover??
🌶️ Sex is descriptive, if for nothing else, read it for this; first times; frotting, oral, 69, some rimming, penetrative; kissing; t/b --> both vers
What's important to point out is that these guys, these human men were stolen from Earth illegally. They were all about to die when an alien slave trader snatched them up and suddenly they were on Krase in a slave auction. They all go through the same process, they're stripped naked, they're put in a slave collar and probed into their asses to show the visitors how well they bottom.
This story starts out the same way, and it’s more ridiculous than not. Jarrett is a gay man on a cruise in the Caribbean when he’s suddenly snatched away just as he’s about to drown. He’s thrown on this auction stage and thinks to himself, you know, I’ve always dreamed of my dream guy to come and take me away, might as well be an alien, right?
"In his fantasies of his knight, he was always whisked away to a formidable castle high on a cloud-shrouded mountain where any and all of his creature comforts were indulged."
Jarrett is constantly talking about his knight in shining armor and then he’s a bit disappointed when it turns out the guy that buys him is broke. But when Ranic, the mysteriously hidden virgin trooper from a very restrictive planet finally reveals himself and he’s hot, well, say no more, Jarrett immediately falls in love.
"Tiny golden sparkles were suspended in a clear, viscous fluid, making Jarrett feel as if he’d just jacked off a magical elf or something."
Right.
Jarrett and Ranic have an instant connection, instant chemistry and instant forever love. Never mind Earth or Ranic’s brutal home planet, where they could kill him for everything he’s doing right now, nope, they’re in love after just one glitter orgasm.
But wait… there’s a catch. Jarrett can’t have sex with Ranic unless they’re married!
So they quickly get married at this pink alien resort where they've been staying and when they’re called back to Krase for an emergency, they bail. They don’t even consider obeying and going back to… you know, the most formidable planet with the most formidable warriors? No, they’re already convinced they’re about to be killed or arrested and the last 30-40% of the book is basically them debating every possible scenario, then getting captured and driven back to Krase, meeting a Krase warrior who wants to fuck them both and finally finding out that Jarrett is actually a free man and they can stay together.
""You told me you loved me without a word, my alien master. You never used force. You never ordered me about. All you ever had to do was look at me with your hungry eyes and I was smitten." No man could look at him like that, and worry so greatly about not hurting him, unless he was completely in love."
This is a 32-year old gay man, dear author. He's not a maiden in distress who's been dreaming of her knight in shining armor to whisk her away to his kingdom or even an alien house would do, apparently, as long as it's whisking away that's happening.
The story doesn’t even remotely pull you in. It’s full of boring dialogues, no interesting developments and way too much cheesiness. Considering Jarrett was picked specifically because he’s a top, you’d expect more of that dynamic, but it barely happens. He bottoms pretty quickly and the whole love story between them is just below average, they literally have nothing going on besides the glitter cum.
Even Ranic, the elusive Finoc carrying all that weight about being killed just for being with a man, isn’t given any resolution about his dire situation. Where are they going to stay, work, or anything? How is Ranic explaining this to his people? We have no idea.
All we know is that the Krase warrior, Nobel Chaos, who was sent to pick them up, wants his own human slave and honestly, there was more chemistry between Nobel, Ranic, and Jarrett together than just between the two of them. For a moment, I thought the author was going to give us a throuple, but no, sadly, not. But that would be so much better. They'd meet their Krase protector, have a crazy threesome on that ship and go to live with Nobel, because he liked them both. They were all free men at the end of the story, so why not??
This series is starting to very much remind me of Victoria Vallo and her prison alien series. It's the kind of books you know they're not going anywhere, the ideas are there but the execution isn't, but you just keep reading them, you can't stop.

Different from the first book in this series (which seemed more like a parody than "real" sci-fi to me), this second volume focuses less on the alien/human and slave/master themes, and more on the building of a relationship between two very different sentient beings with cultures that are truly light-years apart. Learning about the Finoc race and their preconceptions and beliefs was fun, and I truly enjoyed the relationship dynamics in this book. The story is set in the same world as book one, and the characters from the first volume are mentioned, but there is no interaction.
Ranic is from the planet Finoc, a place of unbelievable xenophobia, restrictions, and laws so tightly held up that nobody can escape. At least not while they remain on planet, which, luckily, Ranic has decided not to do. He ventures out, wanting one last opportunity to do the things that are so utterly forbidden on his home world. He wants to know what it's like to be held and loved by a man, an act punishable by death on Finoc. The only way he can think of making that happen is by buying a slave on another world. Little does he know that he will find so much more...
Jarrett is a human abducted from Earth at the moment of his death. He would not make a good slave at all, but he is curious about Ranic from the moment he meets him. His careful questions and loving way of teaching Ranic about love shouldn't mean as much to him as they do - but for some reason that is the case and he has a difficult decision to make. Does he want to return to Earth or does he want to stay with Ranic? Except he soon realizes that it isn't a decision he can make anymore; his heart has already decided.
This is a very sweet, romantic story at heart, with a good dose of inter-species surprises and multicultural differences thrown in for good measure. If you enjoy stories including an abduction that turns into the best thing that ever happened to both the "victim" and the man who buys him from his kidnappers, if you like relationships between men who struggle to understand each others' cultures as well as the other man, and if a sweet love story is what you're looking for, you will probably enjoy this book.

Heh. This fairly uneventful, sappy story made me very happy in the end. Strange how that happens sometimes.
It’s completely and entirely love at first… something. Sight? Orgasm? Whatever. Accepting that, the story is sweet, maybe a little mellow.
And I’m so amused at the unabashedly Christian wedding ceremony on that alien planet. Because that makes tons of sense! XD
Somewhat more on the aggravating side, space is warped and time is bendable.
*sigh* I pretty much expected this. Namely, in the first volume clearly weeks or more pass before the revelation at the end. Here three or four days at the utmost go by before . Skewed timescale, I hate thee.
To say something nice with the bad, the copy-editing with this author is far superior to most others of these publications. In this case the text even got the use of “effect” as a verb right! I’m awed.
And then… It’s funny, how sometimes when you know a book will end happily, it can still fill you with heartbreak when things look bad for the protagonists. It’s as though knowledge does not mean a thing in the face of empathy for what they believe.
I did not cry. But I stayed close to it for a long chunk of the story. Almost got me at that one point. I have to respect a book that does that to me.
Overall, I really liked this volume. Yes, even with all the mush and insta-everything I probably liked this one more than the first volume. Finishing me off with a hefty dollop of happiness means the rating gets rounded up. <3
Also, I’m ridiculously relieved that this series is not built on non-consensual relations, as I kept thinking whenever I saw it around since its release. It’s about as far from non-con as it can get while still maintaining the theme of sexual slavery.

Well written and good story line. Im not an alien story fan abut am finding this series tombe worth the read. I like how the characters in this story are unique but the alien characters are not unbelievable like they are in many alien books.

จริงๆอ่านเดี่ยวๆก็อาจจะพอเข้าใจได้นะคะ แต่ถ้าอ่านตามลำดับ มันจะมีคัวละครบางตัวที่ออกมายั่วให้เราสนใจอยากอ่านเรื่องของเขา พออ่านไปถึงเล่มนั้นจริงๆจะรู้สึกดีมาก
เอาจริงๆซีรีส์นี้เราชอบทุกเล่ม แค่มากน้อยต่างกันเท่านั้นเอง
เราว่ามันสั้นดี อ่านง่าย มีเรื่องมีราวในตัวเล่มเอง แล้วก็มีพล็อตหลักที่เชื่อมกันแบบลงตัว

เรื่องเริ่มที่จาร์เร็ท(Jarrett Michaels - พระเอกชาวมนุษย์) รู้สึกตัวอีกทีอยู่บนเวทีประหลาดๆ เขาถูกนำมาประมูลขายเป็น sex slave โดยคนที่ซื้อไปคือ เรนิค(Ranic - เอเลี่ยนหนุ่มตัวสีทอง) เรนิคมาจากดาวที่มีความเข้มงวดในทุกๆเรื่อง ทำเนินชีวิตตามกรอบทำเนียมทุกอย่าง แต่ตัวเขารู้สึกว่าตัวเองมีความผิดปกติบางอย่าง ไม่เป็นไปตามกรอบที่ทางสังคมกำหนด(คิดเขารู้สึกว่าตัวเองอาจจะชอบผู้ชาย) ก็เลยมาประมูลมนุษย์ไป'ลองดู'
และทั้งสองคนก็ตกหลุมรักกัน (ซึ่งเวลามันแค่ไม่กี่วันเองนะ แต่เราเชื่อว่าเขารักกัน) แต่พอรู้ว่ารักกันได้แค่แปปเดียว ดาวKraseก็ส่งทหารมาตามตัวทาสชาวมนุษย์กลับไป ก็อยุ่ที่ว่าทั้งคู่จะทำยังไงต่อไป จะสู้ หรือจะหนี หรือจะยอมแยกจากกันไป
ที่เราชอบคือ เรนิคเป็นคน(เอเลียน)ธรรมดา ไม่ได้มีฐานะทางสังคมสูงส่ง และไม่ได้ร่ำรวย เขามีความกังวลว่าต่อจากนี้ ถ้าอยากให้จาร์เร็ทอยุ่กับตนต่อไป เขาจะเอาเงินทองที่ไหนมาเลี้ยงดูคนรัก แถมที่ดาวของตน รักร่วมเพศยังเป็นสิ่งที่ยอมรับไม่ได้อีกด้วย
อีกอย่างที่ชอบมากคือ เขาแมนๆกันทั้งคู่ มีสลับกันรุกรับตามอารมณ์และสถานการณ์

Liked this one better than the first one. This features a change-up from what you expect, going in... Ranic is actually a more sensitive soul and for the majority of the book he is not the dominate personality. Jarrett's attitude comes across as pretty laid back while being the more dominate partner with lots of patience and he seems very sure of himself and what he feels.. which is the exact opposite of Ranic who decides to gamble and for once explore his sexuality.

3.5 stars Entertaining insta- love story. I liked that it wasn't a little mate alpha mate pairing though the suspense at the end was a little spoiled as you know the out come if you read the first book in the series.

Okay, this was fun and I don't care who knows it. I loved the golden alien and well...I just sucked this one down. I can't wait for the next one. Long live the SOLD series.
