Is this the end of nishi?
Seeing that our heroes are going to invade the aliens ship next volume and that nishi is in the aliens ship right now i don't think so.
Do you remember the cool tall guy villain? that i as usual forgot his name, i said he is just another nishi that people can't really hate, i think that is why hiroya killed that guy, because nishi made up for a better villain that has a much deeper story to him, and much more understandable malice plus he is in reality weak as hell he is nothing really, but hate is what drives him and is what makes him so dangerous to deal with the dude has nothing to lose.
So tae is not killed thankfully, i wouldn't want to go through another heart broken kurono right now.
The aliens have left earth but are still in orbit, after their crushing defeat at the hands of the giant machines which destroyed their cities along with their civilians.
There are two more volumes and we still haven't seen the aliens cool hero in action, that guy has got cold eyes like he is going to kill you by just staring you down...
One last thing kurono's family is a bunch of assholes, but after all that is why he is our hero right?

This is a review of the entire series.

Synopsis: Gantz tells the story of a teenager named Kei Kurono, among others, who die but find themselves brought back in perfectly healthy bodies and forced to participate in a "game" where they must hunt down and kill aliens.

Review: I almost gave up on Gantz several times, but now that I've read it all the way to the end, I'm glad I stuck with it. The beginning is dragged down by repulsive and unlikable characters, a messily paced story, unnecessary sexualization and gratuitous violence without much substance. As it progresses, however, the character development becomes pretty incredible and the growing threat of the enemies feels truly well done. Once the real enemies are revealed, it's mind-blowing how the series had been secretly foreshadowing their arrival from the very beginning.

Although it takes a while, some really good characters are introduced later on in the series and they're the ones that made me want to read to the end. Some characters that were absolutely unbearable in the beginning became polar opposites of their original selves and even made me sympathize with them quite a bit. The protagonist Kei for example, I hated him with all my heart for the first third of the series, he became progressively more likable in the second third of the story and then he evolved into one of the most memorable, unlikely heroes I've ever seen in this storytelling medium throughout the final third. The last third of the series is unbelievably terrifying with some of the most gruesome and disgusting battle/survival scenes in the history of fiction. It's much more bearable and intense in the final third because this time the violence and horror is happening to people we actually care about instead of a bunch of unlikable nobodies.

The final third of the story is what made me feel so glad that I didn't give up on this series. It had me on the edge of my seat more times than I can recall. There are a ton of chapters but they're very short and full of action which makes the series a quick read despite having almost 400 chapters. So even though the first third of the story was kinda bad in my opinion, it doesn't last for long and the payoff that comes after it's over truly impressed me. It's a flawed, thrilling and horrifying action series that takes a while to kick off. When it finally kicks off, however, it kicks off extremely hard.

Volume 35: Chapter 360-367
Phase 3: Invasion
Arc 14: Destroy the Tower Mission

Sakata and Tonkotsu appears before Sakurai's eyes and it is just his imagination. He is using too much of his power. The aliens used the big cannon to shot down the army of battle suits. Finally, Sakurai died after his battle suit being shot down. Kurono managed to escape from the autopilot battle suit as the one who control the Gantz being attacked by the aliens. The alien woman sacrificed herself to save Tae and asked her to not kill their race.

Nishi is the first one to arrive at the tower. Kurono asked Nishi to stop his action and they fight each other. Nishi lose. Kurono escapes with Tae. The mothership left the Earth. Kikuchi (the detective) exposed to the world the truth about Gantz.

Most of the Gantz teams around the world are on the mothership preparing for the final attack. The rescue team agreed to be transferred to the mothership.

Finally, we're done with the "saving Tae" arc. I was half-pleased that she had seemingly died, considering it was getting really tiring reading "Kei-chan" and "Tae-chan" over and over again. And Nishi got revived and lasted this long is all for this "trope scene" of protagonist vs antagonist. The aliens... despite overwhelming firepower fails to stop the giant robots, though they seem to have no trouble taking out the hidden bosses behind the Gantz balls - that was wrapped up pretty lamely too. Saves the author from having to explain who they were. Anyway, this final philosophically-implied conflict of "should we destroy them" ended in a pretty tame manner. It's pretty hard to accept that a score of giant robots brought down an alien civilisation that was capable of fielding hundreds of giant robots and ships of their own... but whatever. I'm glad it's over.
