The inspiration of Ernest Holmes has reached hundreds of thousands of readers through his classic works, many of which are just now becoming available in paperback. Originally published in 1929 as The Bible in Light of Religious Science , this exegesis on the hidden lessons of some of Scripture's best-known verses has been largely unavailable-and even unknown-since the 1940s. Indeed, this edition comes as a brand-new work to the many readers of Ernest Holmes. It is fully reset and redesigned, published for the first time with an index, and includes a new preface to frame the book for the contemporary reader.
Ernest Shurtleff Holmes was an American New Thought writer, teacher, and leader. He was the founder of a Spiritual movement known as Religious Science, part of the greater New Thought movement, whose spiritual philosophy is known as "The Science of Mind." He was the author of The Science of Mind and numerous other metaphysical books, and the founder of Science of Mind magazine, in continuous publication since 1927. His books remain in print, and the principles he taught as "Science of Mind" have inspired and influenced many generations of metaphysical students and teachers. Holmes had previously studied another New Thought teaching, Divine Science, and was an ordained Divine Science Minister. His influence beyond New Thought can be seen in the self-help movement.
This is a pretty heady book but something that I really needed at the time. One should probably read Creative Mind first in order to errrr understand what Mr Holmes is saying in here. This book was like a door being flung open and radiant sunshine flowing into my world.
I got more out of this book than a combination of the many books I've read this year. This is a truly powerful book fully of deep teachings that have the ability to change your life if you let them. Holmes' interpretation of Biblical theology is astounding from the metaphysical point of view. It is a much different perspective than traditional Christianity and to that I say welcome! As we move deeper into the 21st century I believe it is time for a new perspective even though this book was written so long ago. The time is now. Read this book and open your eyes to new possibilities.
Great reading. Especially how the stories of the bible relate to our daily life. It does not go into super great detail, but the general idea on what Jesus' teachings where as well as other important figures. I really enjoyed it as a daily reading.
