Usually a fan of this author, I was surprised when this particular story turned out to be so unsatisfying. The very story was promising but everything else just had clouds of question marks surrounding it.

The story starts with Hadryk coming home from the war as a pup host. Which basically means he's agreed to be impregnated to save his lover Vodwynn. The main conflict of the story is Vodwynn's reaction to the

Had this story been longer (it’s a short one, a part of the “Got Five Minutes” series), it would have been extraordinary. As it stands, it’s very good. I was so impressed with the idea of Hadryk’s unconditional love – he’s doing something to save Vodwynn, something that will change his life, possibly forever, and that may not be at all accepted by his lover.
