I can't express enough just how long I've been waiting for another book by Sarah Grimm, especially another Black Phoenix book. I was quite the ecstatic one when this showed up on my Kindle to read! I LOVED the first book, so it was a pleasure for me to come back into this world and read Midnight Heat.

Just like the first, it captured my attention, stole my breath and took me on a ride with plenty of emotions. From the start, I was sucked in. I stayed up way too late, but Dominic was soooo worth it.

On one of her long shifts, the last person Rebecca expects to see in the ER is ex lover and the man she's barely just begun to get over, Dominic. What a shocker! She's of course concerned about him and she's immediately drawn into his world again. Her heart and her head are telling her two different things.

Dominic....oh yum. Really, what more is there to say? He made a mistake three years ago, but all he wants now is to have Rebecca in his life. Push and pull, these two have so much to deal with in terms of emotions and conflicting feelings about the status of their relationship.

I loved that we also get to catch up with the sexy Noah and Isabeau. I loved how much a part of this story they were. They didn't take away from Rebecca and Dom's story, but they were most definitely a big part. I love books that intertwine characters from previous books.

Grimm's writing is flawless, the story just jumps off the pages and lures the reader into the lives of these characters. I'm now wondering just how long it'll be before I can get my hands on this authors next book!

If you're a fan of a second chance story, a sexy musician, and plenty of emotion, don't wait. Pick up Midnight Heat, like stat!

Not having read the previous book in the Black Phoenix series I thought I'd feel a loss when reading this installment but it can definitely stand quite well on its own. While characters from the previous book show up here to further work out their own issues, they're also there to support sexy Brit Dominic as he tries to reclaim the one woman to capture his heart. It's a rocky road to redemption for him though in an intensely emotional roller coaster ride for readers that's ultimately immensely satisfying.

Dominic's childhood was one of tears and loss as his drug addicted mother died when he was a baby leaving him alone with her body before he found a home. Growing up he was a sickly youngster, never able to fit in. He always felt alone. Even as his band gained fame and the adulation rolled in he knew it wasn't real. He was used to hearing the words, I Love You, in connection with what a person wanted from him so he never put any value in it. The night a fiery redhead uttered those words though everything changed for him and his fear of what it truly meant had him running and her heartbroken. He's reached a turning point and is tired of being alone and watching everyone else find happiness which leads him back to Rebecca, but she won't make it easy for him. It will take raw honesty and heartfelt words, along with lots of hot sex, to win her over. Dom is super sexy, charming, and exudes sensuality which left me drooling over him. His pain is very apparent though and had me rooting for him to finally make a family of his own as he's been flitting from one group to another trying to find a place to belong.

Rebecca is at a crossroads too. She's a strong-willed woman who's very smart and capable but her family, particularly her father, have never been truly proud of her. They've always found some part of her life lacking and continually try to force her to live out their choices. These feelings of inadequacy have her feeling lost, alone, and unhappy. The only time she was truly happy was in Dominic's arms. Though she's never forgotten him, and still longs for him, she's still reeling from his leaving. When he comes into her ER battered and broken she finally gets the chance to make him pay for his leaving without a word. The intense feelings between them though make that a difficult plan and instead have her fighting for a new life and her last chance at happiness in an ending that's heartwarming, heartbreaking, and sexy....along with a slightly unexpected twist.

This was a quick read with likable and realistic characters. Each character is unique and larger than life with emotions that jump off the page. The relationship between Dom and Rebecca puts readers through the emotional wringer and brings realistic and relatable feelings to the forefront as their journey to HEA goes through many ups and downs. The music world is just touched on here but gives a realistic view of the downtime between touring and record making. I found myself easily immersed in this story and desperate for more as the band's new drummer sounds deliciously enticing and is single. With its storyline teeming with sexual tension, strong main and secondary characters, and abundance of emotions this was an immensely satisfying story that I highly recommend to those who love drool-worthy yet flawed heroes and the strong-willed women who love them!

*ARC received in exchange for honest review*

Dominic Price is a British rock star, a bassist in the band, 'Black Pheonix.' He's a wanderer with a childhood that has him doubting love and commitment. 3 year's prior to this story he met an amazing woman called Rebecca Dahlman, an ER Doctor. Smart, fun and extremely sexy. Things happened 3 years prior that separated them indefinitely, until his automobile accident. But what will come of Dom and Becca?
If you have read the first one you would of met Dominic in a background kind of sense. Noah's best friend.

This book had me completely hooked from the get go, I struggled to put it down and when I did I itched to have it in my hands again. I found Midnight Heat better the After Midnight, Dominic is hotter and more Alpha male the Noah is.
I'm still pretty speechless with this book and therefore gonna sign off with IT WAS BLOODY AMAZING! The British dialect was spot on and for an American Author that is fantastic.

The man who ran out on her declaration of love years ago comes wheeling back into her life, literally. When ER doctor Rebecca Dahlman looks at the accident victim lying near death on the gurney in front of her, the pain of her past is thrown in her face. Dominic was her Achilles heel, they shared the most powerfully moving intimate moments and she thought they shared love, but the rock star ran from those three little words, “I love you,” like a man on fire. Life moved forward, but Becca never got over the pain, or her feelings, making her parents desperate to find a suitable match for a woman of her upbringing, and she continued to disappoint them by living her life her way.

When Dominic discovers the angel of mercy who saved his life is his Rebecca, the woman he foolishly ran from and has regretted doing so every day since, he is determined to win her back, being worthy of her or not. Can he convince her he has changed? Will their pasts stop them from moving forward? Will fear keep them apart? Not if Dominic has anything to say about it and he uses his most powerful weapon against her, their steaming hot chemistry.

Midnight Heat by Sarah Grimm is as heartbreaking as it is sensually hot. Her characters have that essence of pain, feel of desperation to have what they want, but are unsure of how to learn to trust each other with everything. Tense, detailed and smooth flowing, with some priceless dialogue and banter, this tale will not only jump off the pages, but raise the temperature of the room around you to sauna proportions! Well written, completely enthralling, a love story of second chances and following your heart while dancing to the beat of a different drummer.

I received this copy from the author is exchange for my honest review.

This could be one of the best romance book every written. Some scenes were so intense, that it takes the cool side of the pillow to cut through the steam in this couple's boudoir. This alone is a good starter course for long lost lovers finding each other again. Although the author leads you down a curvy road of suspicious when Dominic tries to convince Rebecca to let him back into her life. It was hard to tell if Dominic wants back in because of his circumstance, or if he truly is sincere. In either case, his irresistible charm would make even the smartest of women lose all her sense of reason.

No matter how hard Rebecca tries to take control of a love that takes control of her, she always finds herself at the crossroads. This is where love gets messy. Rebecca appears looking out for the happiness of others over her own. She's a smart, educated ER doctor saving lives and letting her own "go to the dog," if you will.

Not to fret, the story gets better. There are unusual twists and turns that rock you. It literarily is not your typical love story: Boy meets girl, they fall in love and live happily every after. Instead, I experienced the raw emotions of the author's creations. The lighter moments that fills a room with laughter. The tears that can't always easily be explained, some happiness, and a stunning ending that left me in awe!Midnight Heat

Another kick@$$ story by Ms. Grimm!

I was thrilled to find out Dominic had his own book! I was drawn to him in Noah's tale, so woo hoo!! Love when that happens...

Anyhoo.

Again, Ms. Grimm rocked the back story, creating characters that belong with each other. There was just enough action to keep me growling WTH??? and WHY?!? (the climactic scene) that I didn't want to put my kindle down.

And the strip tease scene? HOT.

Even if you haven't read After Midnight, you can nab this book and get swept up. A must read!

This book is link in a way to book I but you’ll find the characters is this book are the close friends of Isabeau and Noah.

You’ll find here the story of Dominic , base player/rock star and Rebecca or should I say Doctor Rebecca.

Both of them knew each other way back and they lost contact after a misunderstanding or at least something close to it.

Dominic will be back in Rebecca’s life but not the way he would have wanted to, and the same goes for Rebecca. She will do everything in her power not to fall again for Domnic, but Dominic has promised himself that he will do everything to have Rebecca’s back in his life.

So you will go through different stage of rage, frustration, cry, laughter and love. Their lives will entertwined with Isabeau and Noah and you will be happy for all of them at the end of the book.

I was anxious to start reading the second book of the serie and see how the story would develop. I have to tell you that I was not disappointed and like the first book I couldn’ t put it down, I had to find out more and more.

Sarah Grimm write about love, passion and what life can throw your way. She has a way to make you fall in love with her characters and get captivated by the lives.

I was given a copy of this book to write an honest review for Cocktails and Books.

I thoroughly enjoyed this passionate story about a second chance at love. Dr. Rebecca Dahlman, an ER doctor is taken by surprise when Dominic Price, the man who broke her heart, is brought into the emergency room. Dominic, the bassist for the rock group Black Phoenix, walked away from Rebecca three years ago. When they meet again, Dominic tries to convince Rebecca to let him back into her life but he shattered Rebecca’s heart, and she isn’t willing to let him in again.
I found it easy to like Dominic even though he has demons from his past and opening up his heart terrifies him. He knows he made the wrong decision when he ran away from Rebecca and he wants to make amends, he’s just not sure how. Dominic’s a sexy, successful rock star with women falling all over him, but the only one who interests him is Rebecca. I found his vulnerability endearing and his British accent irresistible.
Although Rebecca is a smart and successful doctor, she isn’t happy. Her father is still controlling her life and she isn’t sure how to break free from him. She is tired of trying to please him and wants to live her life for herself, not her father. Then there’s Dominic. Even though Rebecca still has feelings for him, she doesn’t trust Dominic and is afraid to let him again.
This is the first book I have read by Sarah Grimm and it was a delightful surprise. It’s a well written story and it pulled me in from the first page, with its realistic character development and emotional story. I wanted Dominic to redeem himself with Rebecca and work everything out between them. Dominic and Rebecca have always had a fabulous sex life together; it’s everything else in their relationship that doesn’t work. They each have their own insecurities they are dealing with and are afraid to open up and share their feelings. Dominic feels inferior because Rebecca is well educated and smarter than he is. Rebecca isn’t sure what Dominic sees in her. After all, he’s a famous rock star and could have any woman he wants. This is the second book in the Black Phoenix series and each one is a stand-alone.

A second chance at love. Outwardly opposites: a British rocker and a prim ER doctor. Inwardly both desperate for acceptance and love.

Dominic and Rebecca previously had a relationship up until Dominic got scared and ran back to London. He comes back into her life with a bang when he ends up in her ER after a bad car accident.

Reluctant to open herself up to hurt again, she pushes him away, while Dominic sets out to win her back and make it up to her. The problem being that neither will be able to move forward until they both confront their past. Dominic from a childhood that is unimaginable; Rebecca from a domineering father mapping out her entire life. Both carry a lot of insecurities and both need to understand who they really are before they move forward. Will they both seize their second chance or will their insecurities get in the way?

This is a well written, witty and an incredibly hot read. The writing is engaging and natural with characters that jump off the page and draw you into the story. It is at times an emotional and poignant read and at other times full of fun as Rebecca and Dominic banter with each other. This is full of hotness as Rebecca and Dominic combust right off the page. I will definitely coming back for more from Sarah Grimm. An awesome read! With these characters and a brilliant story it is a captivating read.

Reviewed for A Wanton Book Lover Blog

Dominic Price walked out on Dr. Rebecca Dahlman 3 years ago; running away from her when she confessed her lover for him. Rebecca comes face-to-face with the man she once loved when he is brought into her ER after a car wreck. Midnight Heat (Black Phoenix #2) is book two in the Black Phoenix series by Sarah Grimm.
This follows the story of Dominic, sexy, guitar rock-good and Dr. Rebecca Dahlman’s journey to find their way back to each other. Both Dominic and Becca push each other away; each of them scared of getting hurt. Becca soon finds that Dominic has changed which he shows her in more ways than one. Dominic is challenged with changing Becca’s that he can be loved and trusted again after she declares that she “no longer loves him”.
Midnight Heat was a quick, enjoyable read. Dominic Price is the bad-boy rock-star every girl dreams about but going beyond that, he shows his caring side with Becca and his close friends that he considers his family. I enjoyed reading about Becca and Dominic relationship. This book has a HEA. Although, the second book of the Black Phoenix series, this book can be read as a stand-alone.

"Seeing you again....It was like someone let the air back in the room."
I was gifted this book for an honest review. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.....5 STAR READ!! Midnight Heat is a story of love, loss, envy, and learning from mistakes made.
Dominick has spent the last three years being single. His childhood was rough. Anyone who he ever cared for, always left him. Fear made him refuse to get close to anyone. Three years ago, she professed her love to him, it scared him so much that he left.
It was a normal shift for Becca in the busy ER. An auto accident brought in a patient, that would change her life. She refuses to let her heart be broken again. As hard as she tried, she couldn't resist Dominick's efforts. Will this second chance be worth the risk? Do Becca and Dominick find their happily ever after?
This is the second book of the Black Phoenix Series. I would recommend reading book 1 first.

All I have to say is…oh my. Dominic. He’s…gosh he’s just so sexy. He’s part cocky bad boy, part sweet guy with a heart of gold, and he's full of regrets. His agony and regret over losing Rebecca…it was so well done. Gosh, I just felt for him. He knew he hurt her, wasn’t sure he deserved her (which just makes him a hero in my book) but he was desperate to get her back, because he can’t live without her. *sigh* Yeah, that’s the stuff I live to read. But the chemistry and the emotion between them is seriously addicting to read. Sarah excels at emotion, so your heart beats (or breaks) right along with them. It’s a story of love lost and second chances with a sexy dash of hot rock stars. I'm honestly usually not into celebrities, so this recent fad isn't one I've indulged in much, but I think I may have just become a fan. Dominic is a must read.

★✩★✩★ 5- Hott & Heartbreaking Second Chance at Love -Stars
~this review may contain minor spoilers~

Reliving the pain and loss didn't change anything. He'd hurt Becca too much to ever hope he would have a chance to make up for prior mistakes. He couldn't have her. Deep down in his gut he knew that. But it didn't ease the frustration. It didn't lessen the anguish inside of him.

The last thing ER Doc Rebecca Dahlman expected was the bleeding, unconscious man wheeled into the hospital and shaking her normally calm, collected behavior. But that man is none other than bassist in the rock band Black Phoenix, Dominic Price ~ the same man who shattered her heart and walked away without looking back three years ago. Seeing him again brings back all the hurt, love and lust she has tried to bury for the last three years and she doesn't know what to do about it but hide. As for Dom, he has spent every day since then regretting walking away from his Becca and now that he's seen her again he will do anything he can to make things right. But with so much pain and resentment will he ever be able to get her to trust him again? Will Becca be able to move past the old hurt and mistrust and give Dom another chance before it's to late ~ especially now that their lives could be in danger?

“What do you want Rebecca?”
“I want to apologize for last night.”
“You changed your mind about going to bed with me?”
“I... no. I mean about what was said. I... want to talk to you.”
“Yeah? Well, I want to throw you down, climb on top of you and fuck you 'til you scream. You remember, don't you? You remember how it was between us.”
“Dom, I-”
“Rebecca,” he warned softly. “You take one more step into this room and that's exactly what I'm going to do.”

I can't even begin to explain how much I loved this book and everything about it. It was the perfect blend of humor, spice, angst, tears and healing. The story pulls you in and the characters hold you there; they are all fighting off demons of their own and they all have very unique personalities. Dom was determined to get his Becca back and was willing to do whatever it took; he knew he screwed up, knew he hurt her, missed her terribly and only wanted to see her happy again... with him and his sexy as hell accent. Rebecca was understandably cautious, she tried pushing him away but couldn't keeping her feelings for him buried. They both had stubborn streaks in them but fortunately it didn't stretch through the entire book. The chemistry between the two was off-the-charts and the sexy times were smokin'. But underneath it all was an all-consuming love that could not be denied and fought to be brought back to life. It was one helluva ride full of surprises and landed Sarah Grimm firmly on my One-Click-Addiction List one lust filled paged at a time.

“I would do anything to make sure I never made you cry again. I don't want to be what makes you cry, Rebecca. Not anymore.”
Her body wouldn't stop shaking. “Dominic.”
“I miss you so much. I miss us. There's not a day goes by that I don't regret walking away from you.”

This is a rock and roll romance and compared to others I've read this is one of the best. This book takes place in California in the present. This book was written by Sarah Grimm. The general plot was that when taking care of an accident victim she realizes he is the man who broke her heart three years prior, and he realizes he never got over her and tries to rekindle their love but she isn't as young and naive as she once was and makes him work for it. This book does have some pretty intense scenes that you begin to wonder if it's going to have a happy ending. I nearly cried a few times , this book made me feel quite a few different emotions. I also loved the chemistry between these two.
In my opinion this was a very good read, I loved it. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves rock and roll romances. The author did her research and was very thorough about ER care and a music studio.

This book is about a love that survives being 3 years apart and is still stronger than ever. Rebecca and Dom meet back up again when he is brought into her emergency room with injuries from an accident. Shocked by who the patient is on her table Rebecca realizing her life is about to change drastically. Waking up to see Rebecca giving orders over him Dom is confused but willing to take advantage of the situation to try and make amends with Rebecca. Heat rolls from the pages as the love between this pair starts to ignite into a fire scorching love story that you won't be able to put down to its done. I finished this book in one setting once I started I wanted to know what was going to happen. The characters are strong and make for a great love story. I recommend this book to anyone that has a love for a great romance.

OMG, just when I think it can't get better, the story of Dom and Becca is a real page turner. Thank goodness it was New Year's Day when I inhaled this book. The way Sarah describes the characters they really come to life. Can easily visualize Dom's "hotness" and Becca's beauty. It was great that Sarah also continued to include Noah and Izzy from book one. Make sure you have some uninterrupted time because you won't want to put the book down.

Loved it!
An emotional read full of love and healing.
A second chance you thought you could never get. What would you do when you get that chance?
This book all about that second chance. About trusting again, letting go and healing those wound you thought you had healed years ago.
It's real. The emotions, the pain, the love, the arrogance, the vulnerability. I felt everyone one of them and so lucky that i actually read it.
Recommend to anyone who loves Happily Ever Afters!!

Sarah Grimm is a fabulous storyteller, amazing me with her words every single time. Not only did this amazing story touch my heart and make me cry a bit, I got to laugh along with the characters, feeling as if I were a part of the story. Dominic and Rebecca: It took a tragedy to admit love, but that made the story seem so much more real. I loved them and all their big rock star friends, the spunky nurse friend. I loved the entire book. Thank you Sarah.

I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review.

This is book two in the Black Phoenix series. 5 Star rating!

I absolutely loved Dominic and Beccas story. It has heartbreaking moment. I laughed, I cried. There were moments I wanted to slap Becca upside the head.

Becca has a hard time forgiving Dom for leaving her years ago, letting her believe he didn't love her.

Dominic the bad ass bassist from Black Phoenix is sexy as bell, left Becca because he was scared, he loved her but everyone he cares about leaves him so he left first. He never stopped loving her. He never forgot her, never stopped thinking about her or missing her.

Can these two stubborn people find their way back to each other? Can they forgive each other for the past.

I look forward to many more books by the amazing talented writer Sarah Grimm

Rebecca is an over-worked Emergency Room doctor, who is surprised when an old flame she has never been able to quite get over shows up after being in a car accident. Dominic is the bass player for Black Phoenix, and realized when it was too late that he never should have let Rebecca go those years ago. Waking up after his car accident he is reunited with the woman he hasn't been able to get out of his head. He wants her back, but he hurt her badly years ago when he walked away from her, and fears it may be too late.

Rebecca is an easy character to like. She is smart and honest, and works hard to stay true to herself despite a lot of family pressure to be who and what they want her to be. Dominic is a very sexy man who definitely screwed up in the past, but who I was ready to forgive pretty quickly. Events in his past have made it tough for him to experience and express love. It is rewarding to see how he created a real family for himself through his bandmates and friends to make up for the family he didn't have as a child. Also, he is very sexy. The chemistry between he and Rebecca was intense and I was really hoping that they would be able to sort through their respective issues and feelings and finally be able to be happy in life and with each other. This is the first book I've read in this series, but this book has made me want to go back and read the first. I will gladly read more by this author in the future. 3.5 stars.

It was like any other night in the hospital for Dr. Rebecca Dahlman....until her ex ended up as her patient in the ER. Dominic Prince is a smoking hot British rock star who broke Rebecca’s heart years ago. Rebecca professed her love to him, and he left her. Dom let his childhood abandonment issues get in the way and he ran off leaving the love of his life. Will these two get a second chance? Can they put all of their issues behind them and move forward?

I enjoyed this second chance love story and was captivated from the first page to the last. I will admit that I wish I read After Midnight (Book #1) first…but this book can be read as a standalone. I loved the characters (especially Dom). Great rock star romance with a sweet HEA. How did I not know about Sarah Grimm before this book? I enjoyed her writing style!

I thoroughly enjoyed this Awesome story. Dominic and Rebecca deserved a second chance at love. Rebecca is taken by surprise when she finds out that the car accident victim arrives on a gurney into the ER is Dominic Price, the man who broke her heart 3 years before. Dominic is the guitar player in the rock group Black Phoenix, When they meet again, Dominic tries to convince Rebecca to let him back into her life but, he broke her heart, and she wasn't willing to let him in again. Dominic was afraid of his feelings for Rebecca so he ran. Rebecca decides to introduce Dominic to her parents, her mom likes him but, Rebecca's dad doesn't because he isn't a doctor [like the one Rebecca's dad tried to set Rebecca up with]. I truly believe Dominic and Rebecca belong together but, Rebecca is a bit leery as she doesn't quite trust Dominic. If you want to know more you truly need to get and read this book. This is book #2 of the Black Phoenix Series, After Midnight is book #1 in the series.
