Brianna is back and shining brighter than ever. After getting sweet revenge on the man who murdered her fiancé and one true love, Tre, Bri finally has peace. She is ready to take on the streets and everything else life has to offer as she continues her rise to the top. Charrise and Kasy are right by her side on the ride to street glory. Unfortunately for Brianna, the foe she thought was gone forever, has somehow found his way back onto the streets and into her life.
Faced with an all out war, Kasy solicits help from the one woman he knows can truly hold Brianna down, his cousin Selena. Hailing from South Jamaica Queens, his pint sized vixen has an angelic face and deadly hands and feet. When she arrives in Charlotte for what she believes will be a good change of scenery, Selena is thrust into a violent whirlwind. Her mission is to protect Brianna and her budding empire.
Blake Karrington is more than an author. He’s a storyteller who places his readers in action-filled moments. It’s in these creative spaces that readers are allowed to get to know his complex characters as if they’re really alive.
Most of Blake’s titles are in the South in urban settings that are often overlooked by the mainstream. But through Blake’s eyes, readers quickly learn that places like Charlotte, NC can be as gritty as they come. It’s in these streets of this oft overlooked world where Blake portrays murderers and thieves alike as believable characters. Without judgement, he weaves humanizing backstories that serve up compelling reasons for why a drug dealer might choose a life of crime.
Readers of speak of the roller coaster ride of emotions that ensues from feeling anger at empathetic characters who always seem to do the wrong thing at the right to keep the story moving forward.
In terms of setting,Blake’s stories introduce his readers to spaces they may or may not be used to - streetscapes with unkept, cracked sidewalks where poverty prevails, times are depressed and people are broke and desperate. In Blake storytelling space, morality is so curved that rooting for bad guys to get away with murder can sometimes seem like the right thing for the reader to do - even when it’s not.
Readers who connect with Blake find him to be relatable. Likening him to a bad-boy gone good, they see a storyteller who writes as if he’s lived in world’s he generously shares, readily conveying his message that humanity is everywhere, especially in the unlikely, mean streets of cities like Charlotte.
This book was also a page-turner. I was annoyed a few times when the author would change up the spelling of the character's names as if the spelling was undecided or forgotten. There were a few emotions and actions (or lack thereof) that the main character Brianna went thru that I thought made her seem really stupid and superficial. All in all, it was a decent read.
“Trapstar2: Trapping Aint Dead” was intense and a good read. However, I’m disturbed by the graphic sexual violence of a female character. More so, I’m not a proponent of acts of violence against women, whether fiction, nonfiction, accidental, provoked, sexual, domestic, young and or old etc.! Meanwhile, two “Traps” novels completed, I need to see this to the end. However, Hakeem (and his crew) earned every bullet‼️ ..Revenge is a mother🤬😡‼️(I feel like a hypocrite now 🤷🏾♀️). Thereafter, I’m hopeful Brianna gets the life/relationships she never had, with a father/dad & a man to truly honor, protect & live her so she can retire from “the game”. … Brandon, “he’s not a gentleman” that statement was peculiar though🤔! What is his motivation?…He’s suppose to be an attorney, but he’s never inquired nor offered to help Brianna. Naw, he feels dishonest, shady to me. We will see…
Excellent book just wish it came with an SA trigger warning...
Loved part 1 & 2!!! Almost never finished reading this as I really didn't like or appreciate certain scenes towards the end of the book, whilst I appreciate it's part of trapping life it could have been left out or not so gruesome. The book was brilliant without having to write a train/(g)rape scene, it could trigger some who has been through similar as it sure made me feel uncomfortable reading it... And as no one else has written about it in the reviews, I felt it was fair to inform future readers, should they want to know.
Starting part 3 as soon as I post this, 🤞🏾 there's no more uncomfortable scenes🙂
The drama continues with Brianna still holding down the drug game. Jealousy and greed still linger in Hakeem’s mind and heart. Will Brianna finally see who he really is while trying to protect herself and her family?
Loved the first one. The second now onto the third. I don’t know what’s going to happen in book three but I’m really excited to read it. Blake is a great writer making me feel like I’m a part of what’s going on in his books.
Loved how this one ended…it was a grueling start and even tougher ending but you know this ended on a clifffhanger just the same. Knowing that it was a bit better gives me hope that this series has serious potential.
I read pt1& pt 2 through my kindle and to see the finale isn't available is soo disappointing. Please make it available for ur kindle readers! Love love love ur books!!!
If you read part 1 your going to want to read part 2 to find out what is going on with Brianna because she is back and still on top. After she found out who was responsible for her fiances murder and took care of it she was finally able to get some peace and enjoy what was given to her. She is ready to let the streets know who she is and that she is not the one to be messed with in any way. Everything seems to be going great shes back on top, she has peace and she has her sister Charrise and trusty sidekick Kasy by her side. But as the saying goes there is always a calm before the storm and Brianna has to learn this the hard way. The one person she thought she had taken care of and was out of her live for good, finds a way to land back in the streets. Since she is dealing with all this and there is only but so much Kasy can do alone he gets the one person he trusts that no one would suspect, his cousin Selena. With Selena on the team is a combination most wont see coming when they try these three. Selena may be new to the team but she holds her own and her team down. What happens when enemies are out for revenge and peoples greed takes over will family show up and have Brianna's back or will she continue to be in this alone?
Even though I had to reread part 1 because I didnt remember it since it had been a while I really enjoyed part 2. Brianna lets you know this game is not only for men but she can handle anything that seems to come her way. With the people she can trust by her side she is able to do anything. Brianna is still trying to get over the fact that she laid down with the enemy and that may come with many consequences. So much drama goes on with her family, and when something serious happens and she finds out who is behind it, Brianna knows that things have gotten real. Brianna must put her emotions aside and deal with what is staring her in the face. Secrets get revealed in this book that you dont even see coming, the drama continues as Brianna tries to get her life back in order. You have to read it to continue on Brianna's journey and there are things you wont expect. If your looking for drama, action, betrayal then this is the book, but of course you must read part 1 first.
This was better than the first part. I've been reading all day because I couldn't put the book down. The author rally did it with this one. It had me from beginning to end. There was crime, drama, romance and love. Everything I look for in a story. Mr. Karrington has become one of my favorite authors I've read several of his books this week and they've all gotten 5 stars from me.
This book was exciting from the beginning to the end. I really couldn't stand Hakeem (snitch) and he got was coming to him. I really felt bad for Brianna and her sister because of their parent(s). I'm glad Cowboy was introduced in the book and I really hope we can learn more about him and Lorraine in part 3. Happy reading!
There was so much I loved about this book antioxidant want it to ever end. It's so good that I think they should make a movie based off all three of the books. My favorite parts were hearing that Brianna had a father that really did love her and Gateshead finally killed Hakeem.
All I can say is OMG.......I love Bri and Blake Karrington did the damn thing again.......If you haven't already please read Trap Star and Trap Star 2......you most definitely won't be disappointed.
I really enjoyed this story. Not my favorite Karrington story but it was no doubt a good read. I'd purchase the next one just to see what's going on with Cowboy.
