30 books45 followersHi there! I'm Chris Lester, and I tell stories. I've been doing it for as long as I can remember; whether the audience was a playmate, a classroom, a parent, or a room full of strangers, I've always had a soft spot for a tale well told.
I grew up on stories of places that never were, of science fiction and fantasy, heroes and gods. I was captivated by ideas of transformation and transcendence, of people who passed out of the world of the ordinary and into a world where the impossible could happen. While it was the spectacle and wonder of these stories that gripped me first, as I grew older I came to appreciate them for another reason: by taking us out of our mundane context, these authors could tackle ideas and quandaries that would otherwise be too close for the reader's comfort. Authors like Tolkien and Heinlein and Card may have written stories filled with impossible things, but the stories were ABOUT ideas and problems at the heart of human experience. They were stories about people -- and whether those people were hobbits or Martians or nine-year-old military masterminds, there was Truth to be found in these stories that could be of value to us today.
It's my hope that my own stories inspire you to think about these deeper issues, as well -- and give you a rollicking good time in the process.

I have just discovered The Metamor City podcast and I absolutely love it! This world is so big, and very well developed. The characters I have been introduced to so far are perfect. I can't wait to see what comes next!

Take the welcoming cruise to tip your toes into the waters of the magical Metamor City with Michael Perelli. Metamor City is a magic filled city where magic is on the rise. The city has a curse and Michael, or any human, needs an amulet so the curse doesn't affect them. There are many who willingly let the curse take them and change them to something supernatural. The curse is slowly expanding the city limits with the rise of magic. There is a wide variety of Supernaturals, which are natural here!

Michael arrives at his new job in Metamor City, a homicide detective. Michael has a knack for figuring things out. When he looks at a crime scene it plays out in his mind. Michael meets a few co-workers and a tour of the magical city he now works and resides in. Welcome to Metamor City...
Metamor City is a magic filled city where magic is on the rise. The city has a curse and Michael, or any human, needs an amulet so the curse doesn't affect them. There are many who willingly let the curse take them and change them to something supernatural. The curse is slowly expanding the city limits with the rise of magic. There is a wide variety of Supernaturals, which are natural here!
We spend time with Michael and Kate as Kate gives him the tour of the station and the city. I love Kate. She's cute and I enjoy her personality and humor. lol.
Dip your toes into the waters of Metamor City. This novella gives you a taste of the world and what is present in the city. There is a feel of so much supernatural here! We start to see the city setup, a layer cake setup. We even get a brief history of the way magic has changed things here, like the citadel - which was once a castle on a mountain. Now this is interesting, the affects of magic on the city and the brief history of the heroes that lived here.
At this point we have seen a wolverine, a vampire, magic, gangs, and guns. Yep, works for me.
I listened to this story, and found the story was easy to listen to. Chris doesn't speak overly fast which I can easily follow him, and his voice is soothing.
I'm looking forward to listening to more and "seeing" more of what this amazing city has to offer.
